American actor and bodybuilder Tommy “Tiny” Lister, Jr. passed away at the age of 62. He is best known for playing neighborhood bully Deebo in the Friday movie franchise. He also played in Armed and Dangerous, The Players Club, Gang Related, Never Die Alone and Austin Powers in Goldmember.

Born in Compton, Tiny was born with an eye infection that left him blind in his right eye. He avoided the gang life by getting into the church. He stood at 6’5’’ with an interest in football and shot put.

Tiny attended Palomar Junior College before transferring to Long Beach City College where he tried out for shot put throw which led him to a scholarship at California State University at Los Angeles. He would have won the NCAA Shot Put Division II championship in 1982.

Deebo socked this fool out.

Tiny also tried out for New Orleans Breakers of the United States Football League. He was cut from the team after two runs. So instead he decided to pursue acting and directing.

He would play the iconic street bully Deebo in the movie franchise Friday with Ice Cube. He would also appear in the Ice Cube-directed movie The Players Club with LisaRaye McCoy, Jamie Foxx, Bernie Mac, Terrence Howard, Adele Givens, Faizon Love, John Amos, Charlie Murphy, and A.J. Johnson.

Tiny also had a wrestling stint. He would appear in 1989 wrestling movie No Holds Barred which was financed by the WWE (previously known as World Wrestling Federation). Tiny played the role of Zeus taking on Hulk Hogan (Terry Bollea).

During his stint as a wrestler, he was known as Zeus: The Wrecking Machine and he was the heel. He would form an alliance with The Macho Man (Randy Poffo).  He would face Zeus in the SummerSlam of 1989 in which Hulk prevailed over Zeus.

Tiny also wrestled for World Wrestling Council in 1990. He had a memorable match against Abdullah the Butcher.

He made one more appearance as a wrestler. He appeared for World Championship Wrestling (WCW), a subsidiary of World Wrestling Entertainment.

His son found him unresponsive at his home in Marina Del Rey just before 3pm. TMZ said that he was pronounced dead on the scene.

He also had good guy roles in movies. He played President Lindberg in the sci-fi action film, The Fifth Element and most recently Finnick in Zootopia.

Tiny was a born-again Christian. He and Darryl Strawberry went to Benny Hinn’s program on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. He devoted his life to helping youth in California.

He also had some controversy during his time. He pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit mortgage fraud, in a scheme that led to $3.8 million in losses. He avoided going to federal time.

Tiny leaves behind a wife and son. He was born Thomas Lister, Jr in 1958.
