If you commit a crime in a foreign country, you should face the charges.

American woman is facing four years in the iron college for violating the COVID-19 rules in the British Overseas Territory of the Cayman Islands. She deliberately broke her quarantine bracelet to attend an event her boyfriend participated in.

Skylar Mack, 18 and boyfriend Vanjae “VJ” Ramgeet, 24 face time in the iron college for a scheme to outsmart government officials.

The Cayman Islands stated that any visitors coming to the island must quarantine for 14 days to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Cayman Islands resident talked his girlfriend into violating the law. Now they both pay.

Like a dumbass in a foreign country, Mack decided the rules don’t apply to her.

The two plead guilty in hopes to get community service and a verbal warning. The justice saw through their phony apologies. The two were issued to serve at least four months to show that they’re not playing games with folks.

Their attorney, Jonathan Hughes said that he will argue for a lesser sentence.

“They’re two young people who have never been in trouble before,” he said in a phone interview with The Associated Press. “This is the first time they’ve had interaction with police, the court, prison.”

The Mack family said that the Cayman Islands punishment was too harsh and believe that Mack’s life is in danger if she’s in the iron college.

“Skylar is the last person that this would happen to,” her grandmother Jeanee Mack said. “The fact that this could happen to a kid like her is scary to me.”

Mack went to the Cayman Islands to see her boyfriend for a professional jet skiing race.

Mack arrived at the islands and was told to undergo a two--week quarantine as mandated by the government. It electronically tracks anyone who arrived to the islands.

She complained that the wristband was too tight and asked for the public health department to loosen it up. When they loosen it up, she manages to slip out of it.

Then she got into Ramgeet’s vehicle and headed to the beaches.

American woman's trip to paradise turned into a nightmare. Due to her immaturity and lack of understanding foreign customs, she now is facing a bid in the iron college in the Cayman Islands.

“They weren’t wearing any masks,” local journalist Andrel Harris told the junk food media. “She wasn’t wearing a bracket, and they weren’t observing social distancing or serval major protocols that were part of our COVID-19 suppression measures.”

So they were arrested.

At their trial, the justice recommended that they served in-house, head home before 7pm and pay a hefty fine of nearly $5,000 (US Dollars).

Prosecutors appealed the serving. They said that the two willingly violated the rules and if they got away with it, then what prevents residents and foreigners from doing the same. They said that if they send a message to violators they won’t never violate the government’s rules to a health emergency. A higher court ruled in favor of the prosecutors and on December 15, 2021, the two were served their plate.

Justice Roger Chapple said that the tapping was a decision that was difficult. He said that the two had no criminal history but stressed their actions showed no compassion or sympathy for those living in the Caymans.

“This was entirely deliberate and planned, as evidenced by her desire to switch her wristband the day before to a looser one that she was then able to remove,” he said. This was an act of “selfishness and arrogance.”

The original law had been very clear. A Canadian couple was found guilty of violating their measure. They ended up paying $1,200 (U.S. Dollars) each. They were permanently banned from entering the islands.

Now the law has went up to $12,000 (U.S. Dollars) and two years in the iron college.

The couple was lucky.

Now once she is set free, she will likely be permanently banned entry to the Cayman Islands.

Since her boyfriend didn’t commit any criminal acts in the United States, he will have access to enter the country. Though he may have to face harsh scrutiny for the crime in the Caymans.

It seems like President Donald J. Trump may have to ask United Kingdom prime minister Boris Johnson and British overseas premier Alden McLaughlin to intervene.

See you can’t fix stupid.

Americans who continue to not wear facial protection, practice in social distancing and refusing to follow safety mandates in public places will keep this pandemic going.

President Donald J. Trump is a problem. He is a symptom of the white privilege America is still grappling with. WIth over 350,000 Americans dead, nearly 300,000 daily infections and 24.4 million in the U.S. alone, the country will never fulfill the needs for proper vaccination and treatment.

The Cayman Islands has a population of 73,000. There are less than 500 cases of the coronavirus and only five deaths. They have maintained a strict COVID-19 precaution for any travelers from Great Britain, The United States and Canada.
