Who Ran The Trap On Verzuz?

Jeezy and Gucci Mane go at it on Verzuz. Even civil rights activist Stacey Abrams congratulates the two for patching up their longstanding feud.

A long time coming.

Folks tuned in to VERZUZ and the legendary rappers Jeezy and Gucci Mane go at it.

Some were expecting it to be a physical altercation and possible gun violence. It didn’t turn out that way. It was somewhat cordial although a few bars did rile the two up.

Jay Jenkins, 43 aka Jeezy (Snowman), and Radric Davis, 40 aka Gucci Mane (Guwop) apparently squashed their longstanding feud. The two broke the internet on Thursday.

Over 15 million people tuned in to hear the two trap rappers go at it in a 25 round battle where both entertainers played their greatest hits and most harshest disses.

Watch a recap of the rap battle here. Note, AppleTV+ and Apple Music own the rights to VERZUZ video plays so it may not last long on social media.

The two also promoted their latest albums on VERZUZ and I want you to hear them here as well.

We will cover the albums in a moment. Let’s get back to VERZUZ. If you haven’t heard the latest from Jeezy and Gucci Mane, here’s your opportunity.

Who won VERZUZ?
Jeezy
Gucci Mane

There was a moment when Gucci did the infamous diss The Truth. The single aimed at Jeezy and the fatal shooting of Pookie Loc ( Henry Lee Clark III). Guwop managed to beat a murder case after a group of men bum rushed his home. He fired at the intruders and managed to kill one. The law identified the slain victim as Pookie Loc, a member of the Black Mafia Family and close associate of Jeezy.

Gucci was arrested for the shooting but managed to get off on the grounds of “self-defense.”

The rapper was charged for having a firearm being a felon. He plead not contest to the charges.

He spent months in the iron college for the gun charges. He escaped a LIFE or DEATH conviction.

He was sent to federal time out for having firearms unregistered and being a felon with them. He managed to escape a 20 year bid in federal time out. He was served a three year bid and soon was released.

Since then the rapper married his longtime girlfriend Keyshia Ka’oir in 2017. He announced that he is expecting his first child with her. The two have children from previous relationships.

Jeezy had come out of retirement. He signed another deal with Def Jam and is appointed an A&R for the label.

Jeezy had his share of run-ins with law enforcement as well. He was involved with a shooting at a Miami Beach club. He was charged with two counts of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit; however the charges were dropped because there was no evidence.

Jeezy had got into a heated altercation with his oldest son. The rapper was arrested for battery, false imprisonment and terrorist threats.

Jeezy is currently engaged to The Real’s Jeannie Mai. The two have been together for nearly three years since she divorced her husband, Freddy Harteis.

Jeezy and Gucci had this feud go back to the single Icy. The song was a hit but both wanted to claim the single as their own. It was alleged that Gucci was disrespected by Jeezy’s absence when it came to performing the single live -- a major part of the promotion.

All things appeared to end with each rapper showing respect to one another.

The two performed the single at the final round of VERZUZ. A memorable moment in hip-hop.

Jeezy also paid homage to Pookie Loc, Shawty Lo, Bankroll Fresh, Nipsey Hussle, MO3, Pop Smoke and Big Von who were slain in gun violence. Gucci Mane also paid homage to them as well.

A great rap battle from the Snowman and East Atlanta Santa.

Okay, The Recession 2 was released on YJ. CTE Records and Def Jam Records. The album is produced by Jeezy. The album was released shortly after VERZUZ concluded. The rapper takes a Black militant role in this album.

The album has 15 tracks and it goes deep into the political climate of 2020. Jeezy allude the album to the deaths of Amhaud Aubrey, Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, George Floyd, Jacob Blake and many other people of slain to police violence.

In the album, he addressed his feud with Freddie Gibbs a former ally. He said that Gibbs was a waste of money and time. He also clowned on Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson for being a washed up rapper. He said that 50 Cent will never reach the heights he held when he first debuted Get Rich or Die Tryin’. He basically said that 50 is an internet gangsta and spends more time on Instagram than making beats. He hinted that 50 snitched on folks.

The album has production from DJ Montay, D. Lumar, Don Cannon, Sean Momberger, CuBeatz, Big Korey, Charles Hamilton, Race, C Gutta, Roger “Point Guard” Butler, DJ Suede The Remix God, ORTIZ ERIK REYEZ (J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League), Cassius Jay, B-Flat and the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League,

He has features from activist Tamika Mallory, Yo Gotti, E-40, Ne-Yo, Lil Duval, Rick Ross and Demi Lovato.

Jeezy brought the heat on this album.
