What Happened To Leonardo Ibarra?

The San Diego Police killed Leonardo Ibarra. The cop who pulled the trigger mocked his death.

It keeps happening over and over again.

Yes, we know that law enforcement have a very dangerous job. We know that they make split decisions when it comes to using deadly force. But we also know how cops feel when they use deadly force. Some do not show an ounce of empathy for those killed by police violence.

People go through rough patches in life. That's human nature. No one is saying the victim was a saint.

But he was a human being. He is a father to a child.

However, the way some cops act gives the perception that they takes out lives before they clock off their shifts.

The shooting of a robbery suspect has sparked protests in San Diego, California. What a cop said while in pursuit of the suspect was heard on body camera and his reaction to the fatal encounter got him placed in the freezer.

Leonardo Hurtado Ibarra, 25 was shot and killed by the San Diego Police after a pursuit in which the agency claimed he tried to pull a firearm on them. The SDPD released the names of the cops who shot him.

It happened in June. Officers Jonathan Lucas and Tavar Zaki saw Leonardo near the 1200 block of Sixth Avenue near downtown. They saw he leaving a building on the west side of the street and decided to make a detainment. They claimed Leonardo looked like a suspect in a June 21 robbery due to his distinctive tattoos.

Lt. Matt Dobbs, the spokesman said that the cops approached Ibarra. He walked away from them to the south. He would soon drop some things he was carrying and allegedly pulled a revolver wrapped in a bandana from his waistband and pointed it at one of them. The cops opened fire on him.

The cops handcuffed Leonardo and performed CPR on him prior to the arrival of the paramedics, who took him to the hospital. He would die from his injuries two days later.

The SDPD Homicide Unit completes its investigation into the shooting. They said that the District Attorney will decide whether the cops used justifiable force.

It seems like Lucas was bored one day and decided to share his feelings about Leonardo's death on social media. Instead of listening to his police union and hiring a lawyer, he decided to throw shade at the family.

He mocked a roadside memorial for Leonardo.

Police chief David Nisleit was pissed. He immediately took the paycheck from Lucas and extended his freezer burn. Lt. Shawn Takeuchi, the spokesman for the SDPD said that the department was made aware of inappropriate comments from Lucas.

Lucas was on the force for four years.

A screenshot of the photo at the center of the allegation under investigation --- an image that has been shared on social media by activists and organizations including United Against Police Terror San Diego -- shows the makeshift memorial for Leonardo: candles and handmade signs, including the one that reads, "Justice 4 Leo."

The Los Angeles Times reported that written over the image are "#Eastside" and emojis that depict a series of faces laughing and crying out tears and faces with open mouths wailing, with streams of tears flowing from closed eyes.

A second screenshot shows the private Instagram account that posted the photo. United Against Police Terror and others circulating the two screenshots allege the account belongs to Lucas. The account's "biography" promoted a healthy lifestyle for cops.

The moment the cop fired on a fleeing suspect.

The screenshots violated the SDPD's conduct when it comes to social media. That cop violated the rules when it comes posting. The policy reminds its officers that "insensitive, biased-based or derogatory comments may have adverse consequences," including negative effects on the operations of the department. The policy prohibits "speech or expression that, while not made pursuant to an official duty, is significantly linked, or related, to the police department and tends to compromise or damage the mission, function, reputation, operations or professionalism of the police department or its employees."

It keeps happening. And every time a cop kills another person of color, you're going to expect "an eye for an eye." The latest round of police violence happens in the country will set off a catalyst.

This is happening in "Donald J. Trump's America." If we re-elect Trump and Mike Pence, we're going to have more chaos and it could lead to violent acts towards people of color, Muslims, LGBTQ individuals, immigrants, those in law enforcement and currently serving politicians.

Trump is running on a white nationalist platform. He will try to pin all the blame on Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as a last ditch effort to win over white voters. With Russia propaganda and agitators from both sides of the spectrum trying to sow discourse, it's going to take a miracle to drag Joe Biden across the finish line.

We are in a fucking coronavirus pandemic. We have civil unrest from coast to coast. We have natural disasters getting worse. We have an economic crisis in the country. All this while we're only less than a few months from Election Day.

Black people are getting fed up with this.

We protest.

We call for justice.

We call for peace.

We call for change in the way police handle situations.

We say we all want to go home.

We register to vote.

And nothing ever changes. It's getting to a point where now, if more Black men and women are killed by police, there's going to be someone who harbors hatred towards law enforcement plotting to assassinate police officers at their weakest points.

It touches the nation's politicians, entertainers, athletes, social media activists and families of the victims. We see these incidents over and over again. Never in my life, have I seen this much brutality from police towards people of color.

Trump, himself had told cops to rough up people.

Trump and lawmakers elected to federal office made politics extremely toxic. It's not just the fault of our dear leader and lawmakers, but relentless agitators on the 24/7 cable news channels. They are profiting off division and divisiveness. The internet is also a problem. It's is a breeding ground for potential mass shooters. Facebook, Twitter, Google and other social media outlets have been "ground zero" for disinformation, partisan threats and social activism. Incels and social outcasts find their outlets on sites that inspire them to cause harm to their fellow human beings.

It never happens in your community ... Until it does! Every community in the United States will eventually have a legacy. A legacy of tragedy. Gun violence will affect your town, your family and your life.

Cops seen his facial tattoos.

Everyday at least 103 people die from gun violence. I can't even tell you how many stories I've missed involving gun violence in the country. Police shootings are part of the systematic problem with gun violence. No amount of training will ever stop a cop from using split judgement when it comes to a life-or-death situation. However, given how many of these incidents should have involved  deescalation, these fatal encounters should have been prevented.

WHEN COPS SEE A BLACK MAN WITH A FIREARM REGARDLESS OF IT BEING LEGAL OR ILLEGAL, THEY AUTOMATICALLY SHOOT THE BLACK MAN. EVEN AN UNARMED BLACK MAN JUST REACHING FOR A WALLET OR A DOOR HANDLE COULD BE KILLED BY THE COPS. NOW A BLACK MAN FLEEING AN ARRESTING OFFICER COULD BE KILLED. WHETHER THEY'RE IN THEIR VEHICLE OR RUNNING FROM THEM. THE COPS WILL SHOOT THE BLACK MAN.

THE POLICE AND JUNK FOOD MEDIA TRY TO MAKE THE VICTIM, "THE BAD GUY" BY BRINGING UP HIS PAST HISTORY, HIS SOCIAL MEDIA OR HIS FAMILY LIFE. 

MANY WHITES (IN LARGE GROUPS) HAVE FIREARMS IN FRONT OF POLICE AND THEY NEVER GET SHOT OR KILLED. WHY AREN'T THEY AFRAID OF THEM?

WHENEVER SOMEONE COMPLAINS ABOUT THE LACK OF BLACK FATHERS, I CONTINUE TO DENOUNCE THIS BULLSHIT. I OFTEN REMIND THEM THAT THE POLICE KILL BLACK FATHERS. THE POLICE LEAVE CHILDREN OF COLOR WITHOUT A BLACK FATHER. AND NO AMOUNT OF MONEY COULD BRING THE PEACE AND TRANQUILITY TO THE FAMILIES OF THOSE KILLED BY THE COPS.

We have unrest in the nation. African Americans, Latinos and Native Americans had enough of the status quo in politics, religion, entertainment and law. The need to change started on May 25, 2020 when a cop placed his knee on the neck of an American citizen. He screamed, "I can't breathe...." and cried for his "mama."

The website Officer Down is a memorial to those who were killed in the line of duty. Those who don't get their names mentioned in the junk food media. Also the website the National Gun Violence Memorial also keeps record of the many individuals killed by gun violence.

Another young life lost to violence by the police.

African Americans are going to send a message to the police.... Our message is pure and simple!

Everytime a person of color is shot and killed by the police, the far-right wants to look up the criminal history of the suspect.
