HBO Max Confirms Tiny Toon Adventures Reboot!

They're tiny... They're tooney, and they're all of bit of looney. And now they're invading HBO Max with Tiny Toon Adventures reboot.

Damn, I missed the Nineties.

Warner Bros. Entertainment and Amblin Entertainment announced that the 1990s animated series Tiny Toon Adventures will be rebooted. It will be rebooted as Tiny Toon Looniversity and it will launch on HBO Max in 2021. It replaces Acme Looniversty as the alma mater for the characters.

The series starred Babs and Buster Bunny who study the tricks of the trade from legends Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. The characters learn the ways of being “looney.”

Babs and Buster and their friends Plucky Duck, Hampton J. Pig, GoGo Dodo and Furball The Cat became icons of animation in their own right. The characters are memorable and unique in the way they entertained children and adults alike.

Steven Spielberg will reunite with Tom Ruegger and voice actor Sherri Stoner (known as Slappy Squirrel on Animaniacs) for the reboot.

It was a series that started on CBS as an animated special and then in syndication in the early 1990s before Fox Entertainment placed the series in its Fox Kids block. It launched the spin-offs Animaniacs, Pinky, Elmyra & The Brain and The Plucky Duck Show.

Like Looney Tunes, the series makes use of cartoon violence and slapstick comedy. It also took a moral turn in dealing with shoplifting, alcohol abuse, smoking, discrimination and political correctness.

The characters like with Animaniacs slip in an adult joke in the show. Sometimes it went over the censors head.

Buster and Babs are rabbits (but no relation), they often introduce the episodes of Tiny Toons.

Buster Bunny is a blue rabbit who idolizes Bugs Bunny and hopes to be like him someday. He is considered a rational leader and often often clashes with the villains of Acme Acres. Although denied by Babs at times, the two have a relationship. Buster deeply cares about her and his friends. He is voiced by Charlie Alder and later John Kassir.

HBO Max will launch Tiny Toon Looniversity in 2021.

Babs Bunny is a pink rabbit. She despises anyone mentioning her full name. Her name Barbara Anne Bunny. Babs is usually a master of disguise and often a trickster at heart. She usually plays tricks on Buster and changes attire to match iconic female characters. She is voiced by Tress MacNeille (who also voices Dot on Animaniacs).

Plucky Duck is a greedy, egomaniacal and selfish duck who wants the limelight. At times, he will often act in the goodwill on behalf of his friends. He often is considered a foil to Buster and Babs. He is best friends with Hampton and Buster. Buster tolerates his antics. Babs can’t stand him. He has a crush on psychic and trendsetter Shirley The Loon. He is voiced by the late Joe Alaskey.

Hampton J. Pig is a kind-hearted character who is the straight man to Plucky. He doesn’t stutter like Porky Pig. He often is an overeater who has a fixation on cleanliness. He also tries to talk Plucky out of trouble. Usually he’s often a shy and carrying pig. He has a relationship with Fifi La Fume, a purple skunk. He was played by the late Don Messick.

Other characters include:

FiFi La Fume (played by Kath Soucie), is a kind hearted skunk who often seeks romance from the boys of Acme Looniversity. She is depicted like Pepe Le Pew, who often chased after a Black female cat who often gets a white stripe over her whenever she gets near paint. Fifi is one of Babs’ best friends and often seeks advice from her on how to win over boys.

Elmyra Duff (played by Cree Summer) is a redhead girl who often abuses animals because of her “love and tenderness” towards them. She often tries to inflict “innocent” care to Babs, Buster, Furball, Dizzy Devil and Pinky & The Brain. The show confirmed she will not appear in the reboot.

Babs and Buster Bunn, no relation.

Montana Max (played by Danny Cooksey) is a greedy millionaire who often uses scams to win. He is considered the main antagonist in the show. He is often clashing with Buster and truly sees him as a rival.

Furball The Cat (played by Frank Welker and on occasions Rob Paulson) is a blue cat who has a hole in his right ear and and a bandage on his tail. He is a down-on-his-luck cat who often tries to find food and shelter. Elmyra often takes in the cat and give him the “love and care” Furball hates. He often is clashing with at Sweetie Pie and L’il Sneezer, two smaller characters in similar ways Sylvester The Cat often targets Tweety, Speedy Gonzalez, Hippy Hopper, Spike the Bulldog and Chester the Terrier.

The other characters include GoGo Dodo Shirley The Loon, Fowlmouth The Rooster, Sweetie Pie, Li’l Sneezer, Mary Melody, Calamity Coyote, Little Beeper, Dizzy Devil, Conrad Condor, Bookworm, Byron Basset, Arnold The Pitbull and Barky Marky.
