Tom Cotton: Slavery Was A "Necessary Evil!"

Sen. Tom Cotton calls slavery a "necessary evil" and believes that America classrooms should not be taught Project 1619.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said American slavery is a "necessary evil" upon which the union was built.

He dismissed the idea that America's founding fathers built this country off the backs of people of color. He dismisses the fact that Europeans stole the land from the indigenous people who first settled on the land we know call the United States and Canada.

Cotton made the jarring remark in an interview with the local junk food media. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, based out of Little Rock had interviewed the controversial senator on Sunday as he promoted a new bill that teaches the New York Times' 1619 Project about slavery in the United States.

The senator argued that slavery is a critical piece of American history, saying "As the Founding Fathers said, it was the necessary evil upon which the union was built, but the union was built in a way, as Lincoln said, to put slavery on the course to its ultimate extinction."

Cotton defended the bullshit remarks by insisting that he was merely citing the Founding Fathers in a tweet posted by his buddy Donald J. Trump, and his office state that the senator does not personally believe slavery was a "necessary evil."

Cotton last week introduced his bill, the Saving American History Act, which aims to "prohibit the use of federal funds to teach the 1619 Project by K-12 schools or school districts."

Okay, this idiot is drafting a bill that isn't likely going to get anywhere on the grounds that it's a First Amendment right for the teaching of American history through the lens of facts not fiction.

This white nationalist believes that white man created the United States and "rule of law."

Cotton along with many of the Republicans in the U.S. Senate are gridlocked over the passage of the House of Representatives bill that extends the $600 incentive to the unemployment benefits. The Republicans have considered lowering or dropping the incentive all together. They are going to allow the federal funds to dry up and continue to gridlock legislation passed by the Democratic-controlled House.

Cotton wants to ban the 1619 Project because it factually depicts slavery. The founding of America has been off the backs of people of color.

Cotton along with many Republicans are against the removal of Christopher Columbus and Confederate statues.

You remember this when you hear Republicans claim that the Democrats are the party of slavery and the Klan. The Republicans believe that Nathan Bedford Forrest deserves a statue. They think that people color should travel roads named after Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee. They believe that Andrew Jackson was a great president who deserves the honor of being on a stack of $20s. Hell, according to Kanye West, Harriet Tubman didn't free the slaves. She shouldn't be on a American $20 bill.

With the funeral services of John R. Lewis being held this week, it's very important that we vote this year. Donald J. Trump and Republicans are going to destroy the country with their partisan bullshit.
