Netflix Acquires Iconic Black Sitcoms!

Girlfriends and six other Black themed sitcoms are coming to Netflix.
The CW Network is a joint venture of ViacomCBS and WarnerMedia. The former networks UPN and WB Network hosted a list of Black sitcoms from the mid-1990s until 2005.

Netflix has now acquired them for streaming.

With the Twitter handle @strongblacklead, Netflix scheduled the list of shows they're going to stream starting in August.

Moesha - Brandy Norwood, Shar Jackson, Countess Vaughn, Sheryl Lee Ralph, William Allan Young, Lamont Bentley, Marcus T. Paulk and Ray J.

The Parkers - Mo'Nique, Countess Vaughn, Jenna Von Oy, Dorien Wilson, Ken Lawson and Yvette Wilson.

Girlfriends - Tracee Ellis Ross, Golden Brooks, Jill Marie Jones, Persia White and Reggie Hayes.

Classic Black sitcoms are coming to Netflix. Get your binge on.
One on One - Flex Alexander, Kayla Pratt-Kirkpatrick, Kelly Perine, Sicily, Ray J, Robert Ri'chard, Camille Mana, Nicole Paggi and Jonathan Chase.

Most of these shows were on UPN back in the mid to late 1990s before the merger. Sister, Sister was originally on ABC before it moved to the WB Network.

The celebration of Strong Black Lead begins on August 1 on Netflix. If you're a binge watcher during the COVID-19 pandemic, these shows will make you laugh, cry and give you an understanding.

There's talk that The CW is considering rebooting Moesha, The Parkers and The Game.

Also, the 1990s are coming back. Nearly 30 years ago, Queen Latifah, Kim Coles, Ericka Alexander, Kim Fields, T.C. Carson and John Henton were Living Single. The cast had considered reuniting and rebooting the sitcom.
