PM Joy!

Joy Reid is tapped for primetime.
Three months after Chris Matthews was forcibly removed from his 7pm spot after allegations of sexual harassment, MSNBC has announced they have found a permanent host to replace the timeslot.

The second time is the charm.

Five years ago, Joy Ann Reid hosted the 4pm spot during the Forward phase of programming. The shows, The Reid Report was similar to her former blog in which she talked about progressive issues and caught flack for dogging the sexuality of Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL), the one time Florida governor who served as a Republican before switching parties.

Reid didn't fare well on the 4pm spot. She eventually was sent to replace Tulane University professor Melissa Harris-Perry after she made her infamous rant about her show being sidelined for political coverage. She claimed that Andy Lack was a racist for shelving Black talent. She was fired out the cannon shortly after.

Reid would take on the weekend spot at 10pm for two hours and titled the show AM Joy. Her show did extremely well on weekends. It would pull in on average 2 to 3 million viewers.

Now Reid is being tapped to host the 7pm spot on MSNBC.

The Wall Street Journal has talked to sources and they believe that Reid will fill the spot once talks have reached a mutual agreement.

Reid has guest hosted for Nicolle Wallace, Ari Melber, Chris Hayes, Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell on occasions.

MSNBC is shuffling its afternoon spots. Right now, Brian Williams is still covering breaking news and partial hosting.

Ali Velshi has been promoted to host a two hour weekend show and continues guest hosting for Maddow and O'Donnell.

Stephanie Ruhle is being promoted to CNBC and MSNBC to hosting a show.

MSNBC is trying to reach an agreement to bring Shepard Smith to the network. If he is hired, he could fill the 3pm spot or 5pm spot. The 5pm spot is currently hosted by Chuck Todd who is the host of MTP Daily and NBC's Meet The Press.
