Mike Garcia Gives GOP Some Hope!

Republican Mike Garcia will head to Washington as a do-nothing.
Republican wins back a seat that former freshman Democratic lawmaker held.

The freshman lawmaker beat embattled Republican Steve Knight in 2018.

Former lawmaker Katie Hill resigned after her personal pictures and alleged relationship with a staffer came forward. Hill won the seat in 2018 and served as the lawmaker of California's 25th Congressional District for less than 10 months. Her resignation opened a spot for the Republicans to reclaim.

Hill rfaced an ethics probe into the allegations and resigned shortly after. She criticized Republicans and some Democrats for hypocrisy. She said that Trump and many like him seem to get away with sexual harassment and abuse of power.

Mike Garcia claims victory in a special election. He along with a Republican from Wisconsin managed to fend off a Democratic challenger.

Garcia's opponent Christy Smith conceded to the Republican.
Katie Hill's fall from grace was a Republican pickup.
If the mail-in results continue to hold for him, he will have a sweeping victory.

Donald J. Trump was pleased that Garcia won the race. He feels pressure to stay out of the races because of his handling of COVID-19.

Garcia, a former U.S. Air Force pilot and veteran is now "ready to work." He will be sworn in on Thursday.

The lawmaker will face a challenge coming into 2020. If he can hold off the next potential opponent, he could secure a full two-year term.

The 25th Congressional District is a swing district.
Mike Garcia will face Christy Smith again in the general election.
Hillary Clinton won the district by 8 points.

His opponent Smith will face him again in the general. She vows to build a better grassroots campaign to oust him.

Gov. Gavin Newsom said that Californians who are registered to vote will receive mail-in ballots for November's election. He said that in-person voting will be held but limited to those who have access to mailing but are legally able to vote.
Far white Wisconsin state senator Tom Tiffany beats progressive Tricia Zunker. He will be sworn in on Friday.
Another Republican won the seat that was once held by reality television agitator turned politician Sean Duffy.

Wisconsin Republican state senator Thomas Tiffany beats back Tricia Zunker, a Wausau County school board associate and progressive activist. She is of Native American heritage. She was backed by the Justice Democrats and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

Tiffany, a Trump-backed lawmaker won by 13 points.

By the way, Cenk Uygur, the host of The Young Turks is an insufferable asshole. His program is pretty much shitting on Smith's loss as it has something to do with Joe Biden. Uygur is a Bernie Bros. and former contender for the seat. He and Knight were eliminated from the race.
