Mark DeSaulnier In Dire Straits!

Rep. Mark DeSaulnier (D-CA) has pneumonia. The staff confirm he is in critical condition.
His pressers confirms the worse. Rep. Mark DeSaulnier (D-CA) is being hospitalized for pneumonia and they confirm he's in critical condition.

The California lawmaker has battled with complications of pneumonia. He has been hospitalized more than a week ago to treat pneumonia complications arising from his fracturing a rib during a run.

He subsequently tested negative for COVID-19.

"The doctors are doing everything they can to care for the congressman," chief of staff Betsy Arnold Marr said in a statement. "Mark's family and staff appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time."

Congressional colleagues offered words of support. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), former presidential candidate and fellow Bay Area lawmaker said that he and his constituents are "praying for my colleague and East Bay neighbor."

DeSaulnier was elected to Congress in 2014. He has served three terms as U.S. Representative of the 11th Congressional District. His district includes most of Contra Costa County which includes Concord, Richmond, San Pablo and Alamo, California.

He is a moderate Democrat from the Bay Area. He has two sons, Tristan and Tucker DeSaulnier.

He was an avid runner and survivor of cancer.
