GameStop Is Struggling!

GameStop is struggling. The games and toys company is closing dozens of stores.
American retail is suffering and Donald J. Trump isn't really concerned about the impact of it.

Another company is on the verge of filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

GameStop had announced they're going to close over 200 stores in the United States and Canada.

The company has 5,700 locations in the world.

The underperforming stores will be first to go. Within 12 to 24 months, the company will close the stores and consolidate locations.

GameStop blames the rise of subscription services and Amazon for the decline. Apple Arcade is coming and it's going to put a dent into Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft.

New hardware sales including game consoles dropped more than 41 eprcent, which the company blamed on announcements of next generation console launches next year; software sales decline 5.3 percent; accessories sales decreased 9.5 percent; and pre-owned sales dropped 17.5 percent.

The company, which saw sales in the second quarter decrease 14.3 percent to $1.3 billion.

GameStop has struggled throughout the years. It's one of the largest provider of video games, toys and computer software. It's been hard to compete with gamers downloading digital copies and going to subscription services like Gamefly.

Same store sales dropped 11.6 percent, the company announced this week.
