Star Cancelled!

Lee Daniels confirms Fox drama Star cancelled. The producers are hoping to find a home for the musical drama.
Prepare for the massacre of television. By the end of the month, I will talk about the Massacre of Television for 2019. I will give an honest opinion about the shows and programs that were cancelled by the networks. We will keep it honest.

Speak of that. I am really taken aback.

I am shocked and I am really disappointed.

Fox cancels Star, the Lee Daniels and Danny Strong musical drama.

The show featured Jude Demorest, Brittany O'Grady, Ryan Destiny and Queen Latifah.

The season finale ended on a cliffhanger with the murder of one character and several other characters being shot and possibly killed during the wedding of Alex (Destiny) and Derek (Quincy Brown).

The show's cancellation wasn't about ratings. It was a Disney move.

Fox cancelled Star during its season finale. Do you believe it deserves a fourth season?

Yes. Lee Daniels and Danny Strong should shop around for a network. They should bring the idea to Hulu, Netflix, TV One, Bounce and BET (or Centric). We want another season of Star.
No. Fox decided that they needed to open up space for WWE, NFL, MLB and MLS sports. Fox is cutting back on scripted shows. Disney made the move as cost-efficient. Can't complain.
I never watched Star.

The story follows the struggles of three young singers. Star (Demorest), Simone (O'Grady) and Alex (Destiny) were working on becoming famous. It also featured Amiyah Scott, a transwoman who played a critical role in the musical drama.

Star existed in the same musical universe as Empire and the two shows crossed over in the second season. The series also included a star-studded roster of guest stars including Lenny Kravitz, Naomi Campbell, Tyrese Gibson, Gladys Knight, Missy Elliott, Big Boi and Paris Jackson, who made her acting debut on the series.

Star raked in solid numbers but hit a ratings low last November. The musical drama is expensive to produce, and its international sales have been challenging, which made the renewal decisions a bit more complex.

Daniels and Donaghy executive produce alongside Pamela Oas Williams. Karin Gist serves as showrunner and executive producer. 20th Century Fox TV, is already shopping it to other platforms.

It already assures that Empire will have a final season on Fox this fall.

Do you blame Jussie Smollett for this?

Do you blame Disney?

Or do you blame the changing of television viewing?

We will never know the total outcome of this. Hopefully we will have a fourth season of Star. I can assure that if Lucifer and Brooklyn Nine-Nine avoided cancellation, Star will too.
