Spike Lee won his first Oscar. He also made the news calling for people to get out to vote. |
Spike Lee got under the right's skin. After accepting an Academy Award for the movie BlacKkKlansman, the movie director hit at Donald J. Trump.
The award for Best Adapted Screenplay went to the controversial documentary about a Colorado Springs detective becoming an unlikely friend to the Klan. The movie has John David Washington, Adam Driver and Topher Grace.
Grace portrays former Klan leader and white extremist David Duke.
Lee went to stage and leaped into presenter Samuel L. Jackson to a thunderous applause.
While accepting the award, Lee was not mincing words about the movie being snubbed by Green Book.
"I'm snakebitten. I mean, every time somebody is driving somebody, I lose. But they change the seating arrangement. But, in '89 I didn't get nominated, so this one we did."

While he didn't mention Trump by name, the film director said some pointed words.
"Before the world tonight, I give praise to my ancestors who built our country, along with the genocide of our native people," he continued. "We all connect with ancestors, to regain our humanity. It will be a powerful moment. The 2020 presidential election is around the corner. Let's all mobilize. Let's all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate. 'Let's do the right thing!'
Do you believe Spike Lee's speech was racist? (Expect trolls to pick the dumbest answers)
Be nice if Spike Lee could read his notes, or better yet not have to use notes at all, when doing his racist hit on your President, who has done more for African Americans (Criminal Justice Reform, Lowest Unemployment numbers in History, Tax Cuts, etc.) than almost any other Pres!— Donald J. He tweeted this morning before he met with the governors. He is now on route to Vietnam for a second meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.
