Russ Solomon Passed Away!

Russ Solomon passed away.
Tower Records was an iconic music company founded by Russ Solomon in the 1960s. He turned his local record store into a business that spawns across the United States.

He passed away last weekend.

He passed away at the age of 92.

Solomon started his record store business in Sacramento and then decided to branch it out to the Bay area.

He began Tower Records in San Francisco out of a 5,000-square-foot storefront. He turned a profit and decided to expand in Los Angeles.

For years, Tower Records was the spot where you could find rare albums, hot releases and the newest CDs.

It was around 2006, when Tower Records had experienced turmoil. After Walmart, Best Buy and F.Y.E. took control of the music retail business, Tower Records took a nosedive.

The company had filed for bankruptcy and liquidation. The company went out of business and left a legacy.

Solomon was not deterred. He returned back to his roots. He opened up store in his old business. He gave up on the business after three years. He decided to retire to the life of art and volunteer work.

According to the Sacramento Bee, Solomon died while drinking whiskey and watching the Academy Awards after just commented negatively on someone's at the ceremonies' fashion choice.
