The Mayor Canceled!

ABC cancels The Mayor featuring Brandon Michael Hall and Lea Michele.
ABC cancels the critically acclaimed comedy, The Mayor.

The show starred Brandon Michael Hall, Lea Michele and Yvette Nicole Brown. The show was pulled on January 4th. They will place reruns of Modern Family in the 9:30pm spot.

The show deals with a struggling rapper named Courtney Rose who wanted name recognition running for mayor of a small California city. He unexpectedly wins the election and now is struggling to deal with his career as a politician while advancing his music career.

Featured on the sitcom was Bernard David Jones and Marcel Spears. Also comedian David Spade has a recurring role as rival to Rose.
Brandon Michael Hall, Yvette Nicole Brown, Marcel Spears, Bernard David Jones and Lea Michele were the stars of ABC's The Mayor. The network cancelled the show after the winter break.
Hamilton producer Daveed Diggs and show creator Jeremy Bronson were the executive producers of The Mayor.

It was an unfortunate cancellation.

ABC is hoping to send the series to another outlet. HULU which has a stake in Disney/ABC Television Studios is hoping to pick up the series.

When it comes to Black sitcoms, it's not many.

Black-ish, Fresh Off The Boat and Marlon are the only minority sitcoms on right now. There are no other sitcoms with a cast of color.

It seems like Tuesday nights will be reserved for the revival of Roseanne.
