Nothing is off limits until you face a backlash. |
That shit ain't funny!!!
Bill Maher crossed the line yet again. He said "house NIGGER" on HBO's Real Time. Will this comment get him fired out the cannon with HBO?
HBO, a division of Time Warner Entertainment is a paid subscription network with uncensored content.
In an interview with Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE), the comedian asked him about Republicans lawmakers reluctantly stomaching an inept leader like Trump. While making a plug for his book, Sasse joked about Maher getting into the fields and work.
Maher said, "Work in the fields? Senator, I'm a house nigger!"
Almost immediately backlash.
Some notable activists quickly hopped on social media to slam him and call for HBO to remove him.
I am offended. But how am I supposed to act on it? I feel like I want to give him a "pass" but note the offensive things he had said about Muslims and criminal justice reform. Then I am reminded about how conservatives are often blasted for the very same things. Mind you Dr. Laura paid the price for the uttering of that word.
We just got through with the controversy surrounding Kathy Griffin. The comedian posed with a dummy head depicting Trump being decapitated. It attracted widespread outrage and forced sponsors to cut ties with her.
In a tearful presser, Griffin said that she went too far but it shouldn't merit her death threats and making her life miserable. She blames Trump for being thick skinned and worried about her than the FBI investigation into Russian meddling.
DL Hughley defended her somewhat. He said that Griffin never threaten Barack Obama. What about Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent? Nugent was a guest at the White House and said NIGGER openly. He threaten Obama, Hillary Clinton and the junk food media. He was rewarded with Palin and Kid Rock a trip to 1600.
Sean "Softball" Hannity, Rachel Maddow, Stephen Colbert and Anderson Cooper are facing backlash for their coverage of Trump. Maher is on the list as well.
Maher knew he was facing criticism from conservatives for his comments about Trump and daughter Ivanka having that creepy relationship.
Of course, in the world of Donald J. Trump, political correctness is solely a conservative privilege.
On the campaign trail, Trump promised to not be politically correct when it comes to saying "radical Islam." He broke that promise quickly. He said that political correctness is hurting the United States.
He was sure offended by the Griffin photoshoot.
Maher is considered a libertarian on government and progressive on social issues.
Maher only dates Black women. So I expect him to play the "Uh I date the sistas!" excuse.
Bill Maher is an opportunistic racist and an evil snake who objectifies Black women while condemning Black men and is a misogynist. That's the epitome of so many influential White men in the media today. Those men get passes on saying snide comments that are offensive to various groups without introspection and consequence. Those days are over. People are fighting back, especially in the era of current racial Climate.
