BREAKING: David Bowie Passed Away!

David Bowie passed away.

The flamboyant iconic rocker passed away says his publicist. The news hit social media overnight.

He died yesterday after fighting a battle with cancer. Bowie's family was there in presence.

Born David Robert Jones in Brixton, South London, he scored his first hit song "Space Oddity" and secured an enduring fanbase with his albums "The Man Who Sold the World and "Hunky Dory".

He created the androgynous Ziggy Stardust, and it became his biggest success. He is a pioneer of the "glam rock" genre.

David Bowie married Iman in 1992.
Bowie is credited as a producer, writer, and actor.

Bowie appeared in several movies and television. He was featured in the "The Man Who Fell To Earth", "Basquiat", "The Prestige" and the cult classic movie "Labyrinth."

He played in the Jareth the Goblin King in the dark fantasy movie.

Bowie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and given the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. In 1997, he celebrated his 50th birthday playing at sold out show at New York's Madison Square Garden alongside fellow rockers The Foo Fighters, Bill Corgan, Lou Reed, Robert Smith and Frank Black.

In 2004, the musician suffered chest pains while performing at a festival in Germany and collapsed backstage. While Bowie initially thought he pinched a nerve in his shoulder, the pain was later diagnosed as a clogged coronary artery and it required emergency heart surgery.

Some people were concerned about his health overtime. Some people spotted the rocker in New York public a "pale shadow of his former self".

He released the single "We Are We Now" in 2013. Some saw the song as subliminal for ailing health.

His longtime producer Tony Visconti denied that Bowie had Alzheimer's disease.

His 25th and possibly final album Blackstar was just released this month. Additionally the musical "Lazarus" which he co-wrote with playwright Edna Walsh and features old and new Bowie songs, open in December to positive reviews. It was earned bragging rights as one the best Off Broadway shows ever, says the New York Times.

David Bowie was married model and actress Iman. They have a daughter named Alexandra Zahra Jones. His son Duncan Jones was born through his first marriage to Mary Angela Barnett.
