While the controversial billionaire, reality television star and internet troll prepares his cabinet, we will take a moment to reflect on the music that keeps my spirits up in post-election.
Let's listen to LL Cool J.
It's a classic banger called Loungin' (Remix) (Who Do You Luv) featuring Total.
As protest continue against President-elect Donald Trump, SNL had an opportunity to address the situation.
Who could address a controversial figure like Donald Trump while at least building up dispirited progressives?
Call upon legendary comedian Dave Chappelle to do guest hosting.
Chappelle hits it off. He first address the unrest in Portland, Oregon and compare it to the fatal police encounters of Black men in Charlotte, Milwaukee, Baltimore and Ferguson. He says it is sort of a double standard for Whites when it comes to protesting injustices.
Dave Chappelle opening monologue went viral. I mean it's touched nerves and it gave an honest truth about the election in the Black and White prospective.
"I didn't know that Donald Trump was going to win the election. I did suspect it. Seemed like Hillary [Clinton] was doing well in the polls and yet .... I know the whites. You guys aren't as full as you used to be. America has done it. We've actually elected an internet troll as our president."
As he addressed the Portland protests, he remarked the following: " I watched the white riot in Portland on television the other night. The news said they did $1 million worth of damage. Every black person was watching it like, 'Amateurs'," said Chappelle.
In regards to 1/3 of Clinton supporters saying they will not respect President Trump, he said:
"I'm staying out it. I'm just going to take a knee like [Colin] Kaepernick and let the whites figure this out amongst themselves".
Classic.
Chapelle even brought out his inspiration, Chris Rock to perform in a skit involving angry Clinton supporters.
Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Attorney General Kamala Harris and former Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto were elected to the Senate. The Senate now has a record number of women in office.
While I have taken a moment away from the political dogfights, I happen to at least smile knowing that Democrats scored a little success post election.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL). Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH). Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO), Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) survive their reelection bids. They continue to be fixtures in an already broken Washington. And they continue to build their political fortunes on being the party still stuck in the past.
The night was bad for the Dems. But on a positive note, Democrats managed to keep a hold on Nevada, California and pick off New Hampshire and Illinois.
Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), California Attorney General Kamala Harris, New Hampshire governor Maggie Hassan, and former Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto were elected to the Senate.
Duckworth an Iraq war veteran quadruple amputee will be the second Asian American woman elected to the senate. She served as U.S. Representative for three terms. She was a sure favorite among Democrats in the state. Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) made the fatal error of telling a racially insensitive joke in the face of an Army veteran. Duckworth's father is White and her mother is from Thailand.
Harris is the current Attorney General of California. She beat Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-CA) in a competitive but yet historical fight for the seat once occupied by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA). Harris is part Indian-American and African American. She will be the third of both Asian and Black race serving in the senate.
Catherine Cortez Masto was the former Attorney General of Nevada. She would beat Rep. Joe Heck (R-NV) in a very competitive seat being vacated by outgoing Minority Leader, Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV). Cortez Masto's parents are immigrants from Mexico and she's passionate about the rights of immigrants. She will be the first Latina elected to the senate.
Governor Maggie Hassan is the current governor of New Hampshire. She fended off a formidable opponent in Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH). The race was heavily favored for Ayotte. Even I was off the point. Matter of fact, most pollsters were really off on each election. I mean it was a nail biter to say at least.
Look Democrats were outmatched. Plain and simple. Republicans have such disdain for President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and it was pretty easy for President-elect Trump to overwhelmingly win the majority of Republicans.
I am pleased to see that the senate isn't just full of old White people.
Women who are serving in the 115th Congress as Senators.
Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Kamala Harris (D-CA), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Susan Collins (R-ME), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Deb Fischer (R-NE), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Kristen Gillibrand (D-NY), Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Patty Murray (D-WA), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI).
African Americans - Kamala Harris (D-CA), Tim Scott (R-SC), and Cory Booker (D-NJ)
Asian Americans - Kamala Harris (D-CA). Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL)
Hispanic Americans - Ted Cruz (R-TX). Dean Heller (R-NV). Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) and Marco Rubio (R-FL)
Here's one of my favorite songs from The Gap Band.
It's the single "Party Train".
Don't be discourage about the Donald Trump victory. Celebrate that now it's Republicans who will face the wrath of progressives seething with vengeance.
I feel the need to give you some honest listening while we are dealing with the disaster that's coming to Washington, DC in January. I will do my best to give you my honest take on the issues in my community, my country and of course the corrupt Donald Trump ass kissing junk food media.
I want to be the fierce opposition to the reality television star who is slated to become the 45th President of the United States.
I want to make sure that we're spreading the honest discussion about how to take back Congress and the 2020 presidency. Right now I have no suitable candidate from the Democratic Party capable of stopping Trump.
It's gonna be a tough 4 or 8 years of dealing with the oldest living president. He represents the party of White people and old farts.
Dwayne Carter is now looking for the New York Times bestsellers list. The rap mogul still feuding with Cash Money Records over the delay of Tha Carter V. He is pretty much in limbo on any projects and he's pretty much exhausted of the rap game.
The rapper formerly known as Lil' Wayne wrote a book chronicling his time in iron college.
Gone Til' November: A Journal of Ricker's Island is a prison memoir. It earned respect.
When he done an interview with the junk food media, he raised eyebrows with his comments about the Black Lives Matter movement.
Lil' Wayne's book is out and it's a good read.
I will let you judge it for yourself.
It's getting major attention on social media. It's been overshadowed by the reality television star and bombastic billionaire becoming the 45th President of the United States.
To all those who served in the U.S. Military, thank you!
The men and women who served our military don't get the respect they deserve. I am truly proud of you. You served the country in times of war and peace.
Today is Veterans Day.
Say thank you to those who served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, the National Guard and U.S. Coast Guard.
Even though, I will not show any support towards your future commander-and-chief, I will at least give you the credit you deserve for making this country safe. I don't want to sound mean spirited but you gave us the right to protest injustice.
As the reality television star and bombastic agitator becomes our 45th President of the United States, I want to thank President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden for their service to our nation.
They don't get the credit they deserve for all the hard work they've done in Washington, DC.
When the reality television star and his foreign born wife occupy the White House, I will be prepared to go after them the way the alt-right went after the Obamas.
I dare any of these alt-right bastards call me anti-American. I don't have to support their president.
Now the ball is in their court. I promise you no mercy towards the Republican controlled government and their allies in the junk food media.
