Darlene Clark Hine: The View from the Inside ... The OAH's Courageous S...

Darlene Clark Hine is the Board of Trustees Professor of History at Northwestern University. She was interviewed by the History News Network at the annual meeting of the Organization of American Historians on April 18, 2015, where she spoke about a subject she has long tried to forget: The painful decision the OAH made in 2000 to stand up to the racist practices of the Adam’s Mark Hotel. The controversy broke just as Professor Hine was preparing to take-over as the new president of the OAH.

The organization was scheduled to headquarter its convention that year at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in St. Louis when the NAACP led a boycott of the chain. In response the OAH decided to move the annual convention to St. Louis University at a cost of $90,000, which covered the cost of the facility, shuttle buses and legal expenses.

The hotel subsequently threatened to sue the organization for $450,000. Bankruptcy loomed. Some members were aghast that the organization was taking a forceful stand. But the OAH persisted. Members contributed enough money to off-set the added costs and the NAACP forced the hotel to withdraw its suit against the OAH as part of a general settlement.

Who They Gonna Blame Now That Two Officers Were Killed In Separate Shootings?

Omaha officer Kerrie Orozco was gunned down by a suspect who didn't give two fucks about her life. He killed a wife, mother, sister and friend of the community. This heartless act gotten the junk food media's attention because she was going to be on maternity leave after this.

Of course we blame the shooter. But since we live in this gotcha media, the fingers start pointing at the people who have an opinion about it. Of course in the minds of conservatives, it's obviously going towards President Barack Obama.

Damn, it's almost like they believe that Obama was the man who shot two officers. Seeing that he's spoken about the disparaging statistics of Black residents and interactions with police being on the rise, one would think he's talking about a real issue in America.

Of course not. In the minds of the tone deaf, he's preaching anti-cop rhetoric. He's trying to justify rioting and looting. He won't allow the critics to say "THUG". He won't mention the names of hundreds of other victims lost to gun violence.

On average, one day can equal 2000 people killed by gun fire. That's a list that would take at least four hours to read if the president had time to cover every name.

Now I haven't got the whole information on the police officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, World News Today will continue to honor those who serve in law enforcement.

There was a officer from Omaha, NE who was about to go on maternity leave. She was killed by a man who she tried to serve an arrest warrant to. The man went down in a hail of gunfire.

Marcus Wheeler was killed after firing on police.
Kerrie Orozco, a 29 year old mother of a newborn daughter was on duty. She was suppose to be on maternity leave a few days later. But that didn't happen. She got slugged in the chest just above her bulletproof vest. She would die of injuries at a hospital.

Orozco was assigned to the gang activity unit. She was trying to deal with criminal activity in the streets of Omaha.

The shooter Marcus Wheeler, 26 eventually ate a bullet sandwich after a brief pursuit. He died on scene.

A New Orleans Housing Officer was found this morning with a slug to the head. In a brazen assassination, the police officer was bucked without remorse. The suspect in this shooting is on the loose. The name of the officer wasn't released to the public.

These two officers were doing their jobs and paid the price for protecting the citizens they swore to protect. World News Today sends our condolences to the families of Kerrie Orozco and the New Orleans officer who's name wasn't released.

Now the Blame Game. A tradition that comes whenever the agitators finds some reason to blame someone other than the actual criminal.

Wheeler was a Black man. So of course, the conservative outrage meter is on. Wheeler was a "racist" cop killer according to the idiot Jim Hoft.

Usual word vomits include the following.

Will Obama say something about Orozco?

Will this be a reminder of the violent behavior of Blacks?

Will Rev. Perm and Cut His Nuts Off Jackson say something about the shooting of this young woman and her role as an arresting officer?

Will the people supporting the #BlackLivesMatter Movement finally understand that #BlueLivesMatter?

The conservative agitator Loudmouth Bill Cunningham went right into it on his Sunday night cabal.

Cunningham is the pitchman for the conservative Craigslist. He took over when the head honcho Matt Drudge (founder of the conservative Craigslist) left the Sunday night radio gig after failing to make $$$$.

The moment he mentioned the shooting of two officers, I say I bet he will say Obama in the sentence.
New Orleans police are searching for the suspect who assassinated an officer.
As predicted. The agitator went into the holier than thou argument that the president supports criminal behavior and his words are dangerous to cops.

Note this Loudmouth Cunningham is a fraud. He has a trash television show on The CW that is going into its fourth season.

Loudmouth Cunningham plays the role of a midday agitator from iHeart Radio in Cincinnati at WLW 700 AM. On Sunday nights he does it from New York while he's taping his reality television talk show. He's the second most listened to in the noon agitation. He and that old fart Rush Limbaugh are buddies.

What makes him so bad is the fact he trashes on the very same folks he kindly invites on his reality talk show. He has spoken on the John Crawford shooting the very same way he's talked about Michael Brown and Tamir Rice.

Again we don't condone the killing of anyone in law enforcement.
Right wing agitator Bill Cunningham.

We don't condone police brutality, abuse of power, the Blue Wall of Silence, and the killing of unarmed suspects.

We believe that those in law enforcement should be held accountable for any event in which they use improper judgement in a situation. That includes firing a service weapon, using restraint, profiling an individual based on "suspicion", running a traffic signal without lights or siren, and doing unprofessional conduct while on and off duty.

We believe that law enforcement should be photographed or videotaped by residents. An officer's body camera or a dash camera isn't effective enough. The officer's dash camera or body camera footage can magically disappear or it may be released in portions to sway public opinion.

We believe that the media shouldn't believe "everything" a cop tells. That includes a public statement on a controversial event, a grand jury decision, leaking evidence to portray an unarmed suspect as the one who agitated the event and spreading the perception that anyone who criticizes the police are anti-cop.

The Supreme Court allows an arresting officer to "stretch" the truth. Basically the officer can lie when doing a vice/terrorist/drug sting operation, a pull over, a citation, an arrest, a restraint and a discharge of a service weapon.

We take the opportunity to talk about issues that face our community, the government and the corrupt mainstream media.

I tend to have a rational view on most things. I am not a raving partisan. The constant negative reactions towards President Barack Obama, Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and the Black community in general by the conservative agitators in the media made me a little more liberal on most issues facing America.

Yeah, I call them names. They deserved to be called more than just that. I believe that they're entitled to their opinions. But I figured that since they're name calling, why not!

When they die, some will care. Others won't.

Officer Kerrie Orozco meeting with youth at a sporting event.
Although I tend to be more independent minded on issues, I have to conclude that I tend to be a little more progressive (liberal) on issues now because of four notorious agitators.

What pisses me off more than anything is the tone deafness of conservatives whenever President Barack Obama actually makes a statement on an issue.

This month he held a forum on policing and reminded them how proud he was of the men and women in law enforcement. He told those in attendance that there needs to be a call for unity among the police and the residents of the recent events.

The president mentioned the rise in cop being killed while on duty. He also signed an executive order banning the use of military style weapons and vehicles for police.

The president's speeches are often lost to the bombastic agitators who solely believe that no matter what is said, Barack Obama is just a naturally born NIGGER/ They believe that he's a criminal and he should be locked up with the rest of them.

I will conclude the month with a honest opinion about the agitators in the media.

Louis Johnson Passed Away!

Louis Johnson was a great performer. He passed away.

If you've heard of the songs "I'll Be Good To You", "Ain't We Funkin' Now" and "Strawberry Letter 22" and "Stomp", you have to give credit to The Brothers Johnson.

The 1970s group consist of brothers Louis and George Johnson. They were known as Lightin and Thunder Thumbs.

Well today it's confirmed by the family that Louis had passed away.

It was confirmed that he passed away on Thursday. Conditions are unknown but it was released today of his passing.

World News Today send our condolences to the family of Louis Johnson.

Wikipedia has an explanation about this.

Johnson was best known for his group The Brothers Johnson and his session playing on several hit albums of the 1970s and 1980s including the "best selling album of all time" Thriller.

His signature sound was from the Music Man StingRay bass which Leo Fender especially made for him to first use and promote, and form his slapping technique

Guitarist/vocalist George and bassist/vocalist Louis formed the band Johnson Three Plus One with older brother Tommy and their cousin Alex Weir while attending school in Los Angeles, California.

The Brothers Johnson.pngWhen they became professionals, the band backed such touring R&B acts as Bobby Womack and the Supremes. George and Louis Johnson later joined Billy Preston's band and wrote Music in My Life and The Kids and Me for him before leaving his group in 1973. In 1976, The Brothers covered the Beatles' song, Hey Jude, for the ephemeral musical documentary All This and World War II.

Quincy Jones hired them to play on his LP Mellow Madness, and recorded four of their songs, including Is It Love That We're Missing? and Just a Taste of Me.

After touring with various artists including Bobby Womack and Billy Preston, they were hired by Quincy Jones for a tour in Japan and produced their debut album Look Out For #1, released in March 1976 (#9 US) Their Right on Time album was released in May 1977 and reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 200. Blam!! came out in August 1978 and reached number 7 on the Billboard 200.

Two of the duo's songs were featured on the soundtrack of the 1976 film Mother, Jugs & Speed. The instrumental track Thunder Thumbs and Lightnin' Licks refers to the brothers' nicknames. Get the Funk Out Ma Face was cowritten with Quincy Jones.

Their popular album Light Up The Night was released in March 1980 and rose to #5 on the Billboard 200. It was number 46 on the "Top 100 LPs of 1980" list in Rolling Stone Magazine. The brothers self-produced the subsequent album, Winners; released in July 1981, it only reached #48 on the Billboard 200.

Among their most popular songs are I'll Be Good to You (Billboard Hot 100 #3 in 1976), Strawberry Letter 23 (Hot 100 #5 in 1977, originally recorded by Shuggie Otis), Ain't We Funkin' Now (1978), and Stomp! (Hot 100 #7 and Hot Dance Music/Club Play #1 in 1980). Their styles include funk, and R&B ballads. Each album also included at least one instrumental cut that would either be considered lite jazz (Tomorrow 1976, Q 1977, Smilin' On Ya 1980, Tokyo 1984) or Funk (Thunder Thumbs &Lightning Licks 1976, Brother Man 1976, Mista Cool 1978, Celebrations 1980).

Cleveland Ex-Cop Walks In The Murder Of Unarmed Suspects!

Cop walks in murder of two unarmed suspects.

Yeah, they've fled when an officer spotted them in East Cleveland. Yeah, they led a lot of officers on a high speed pursuit across the Cleveland streets. Yeah, they were boxed in. But when the Cleveland Police, Cuyahoga County Sheriff deuties and East Cleveland Police opened fire on them, it was deadly. It was over 130 rounds being fired into the vehicle.

The whole ordeal happened in November 2012. One of the officers even jumped onto the vehicle to continue firing. Well today, that officer was acquitted of involuntary manslaughter of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams.

The officer Michael Brelo can leave the courtroom a free man. If he was convicted of this charge, he would have spent a quarter in the iron college.

The U.S. Justice Department is already poking holes into the way Cleveland Police handle officer involved shootings. The Tamir Rice shooting and the lack of interest in the Cleveland Kidnapping Case has the police department under the radar for a major overhaul.
MICHAEL BRELO CAR
The vehicle took over 130 rounds into it.
We're not saying that the Cleveland officer's actions were not justified. What the problem was that he didn't use proper judgement when pulling the service weapon. The vehicle was sputtering and a popping sound from the vehicle spooked the cops into believing they were being fired on.

For the amount of shells raining on that vehicle, you can say that was considered excessive force.

Russell was picking up Williams a known prostitute in the area. Williams was a drug user and was charged with misdemeanors ranging from prostitution to petty theft.

Russell was spotted by officers. He was trying to avoid getting caught. He had driving privileges revoked and had minor criminal theft charges. Russell didn't want to be caught.
Free man. Michael Brelo got off an involuntary manslaughter charge.
This incident adds to the list of incidents in which White police officers have used their service weapons in the shooting of unarmed Black suspects. These events show that despite all the talks about drugs, criminal gangs, and the need to talk to the law, the Black community believes that they may end up to a corpse if they bother.

No one is saying being the police are bad people. They do a dangerous job and most of the time it's a thankless job. They risk their lives 24/7 and the need for them is essential. But one too many believe that the police are enforcing more than protecting. I mean the distrust is extremely high.

Some officers only see residents as criminals and not victims. They don't want to protect the residents. They want to lock them up because they had a string of misfortune.

Who could judge them?

These days a cop is careful about interactions with people of color. They don't want to become overnight celebrities because of a person and their cell phones.

World News Today send our condolences to Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams.

The 1980s In 20XX!

Full House 1987 TV series logo.png
Full House sequel on the way.

Retro television reboot.... As with Disney's Ducktales the possibility of more 80s theme sitcoms and animation are steamrolling into your home.

I got to say that if it wasn't for ABC's The Goldbergs, I wouldn't be so happy to see the past come back. I mean I grew up in the 1980s when television was good. Cable became just a switch box with 40 channels and Saturday mornings were cartoons and cereal.

Now in 2015. If you don't have cable, your mornings will be likely woken to infomercials, Litton educational programs, news blocks, and reality television (i.e. courtroom shows, Dr. Phil, Jerry Springer, and Ellen).

I will blame the Obamas for this only. Last year The CW ended its Saturday morning animation block. That was the last animation block to ever air on a major television broadcaster.

It was the end of an era. While some blame the rise of cable and the numerous other animation shows, I have to blame President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

The Health Eating (Let's Move) Program was a factor. The first lady was concerned that too many children weren't getting enough exercise and eating high calorie foods such as McDonald's.
Full House cast. John Stamos is confirming that a sequel is go.
Now that some of the incentives went into effect, you hardly see any animated commercials featuring General Mills, Kellogg's and Post characters. Matter of fact, you hardly see any animation in commercials.

Walmart, McDonald's, Kellogg's, Pillsbury, Wendy's, and other business decided to cut the cord on the smiley face, Ronald McDonald, Tony The Tiger and the Doughboy.

The networks decided that cartoons were a factor to children being overweight and not exercising.

So in order to meet federal mandates and eliminate a costly time block, they ended the Saturday morning cartoons. ABC, CBS, The CW have partnered with Litton Entertainment. Now on Saturdays you either get a huge news block, infomercials, and this bullshit.

Yeah, I fault Obama for it.

John Stamos, Bob Saget, Mary-Kay and Ashley Olsen. Stamos is pissed that the Olsen twins declined the offer to return to television. They have declined to appear on the Full House reboot.
The genre's popularity declined in the 1990s and 2000s after cable and satellite television, and later the Internet, began providing 24-hour access to cartoons for children. The format has continued in a reduced manner through the present day as a way of meeting educational television mandates.

Minor television networks continue to air Saturday morning cartoons while meeting those mandates (for now).

This issues are the reasons to why Saturday Morning Cartoons are non existent. I am a fan of animation. It gave me a sense of leaving the meaningless and gave me a sense of fantasy. Imagining that I could be the hero or villain in a show. Gave me something to relax to instead of the partisan rancor of politicians. I didn't want to know what goes on in a reality television star's personal life.

But on the bright side, some of the series I've watched are coming back for new seasons.

The Flash is speeding into season two on The CW.

The Odd Couple gets a second season on CBS.

Girl Meets World is on Disney and its a sequel to Boy Meets World. Disney gave it a go for a second season.

Now Full House is Fuller House. And it's going to premiere on Netflix in Fall 2016.

Miller-Boyett Productions, Warner Bros. teamed up again with Jeff Franklin and John Stamos to relaunch the hit sitcom to Netflix. In this edition Candace Cameron Bure (DJ) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy) living in a home with their children trying to adjust to being mothers.

The series will feature Stamos (Jesse), Bob Saget (Danny), Dave Coulier (Joey), Jodie Sweetin,(Stephanie), and Lori Loughlin (Rebecca) in supporting roles.

What's missing is Mary Kay and Ashley Olsen. The twin sisters were playing one role, Michelle.

Now the 28 year old sisters have confirmed that it's a "NO GO" for them. For the time being, the feud between them and the rest of cast stems over contractual disputes.

Big Snoop: Hillary Got Game!

Smoke one for Hillary.

Straight out of the LBC, Snoop Dogg has already brought his star power to the presidential election.

As he was talking to the junk food media about his album release and his potential role in the N.W.A. bio-pic. He decided to roll one up for Hillary Clinton.

He's not the only rapper to endorse the former Secretary of State.

You got Atlanta's wild man Waka Flocka. I believe he's the first rapper to publicly come out in support of Hillary Clinton.

You got 50 and his old rival Ja Rule endorsing her. These two put aside their differences in 2013.

Conservatives are as usual pissed off that she's getting a fair share of endorsements from "THUGS".

Thug is the new NIGGER for the racist right. They can't fathom being called racist. They believe that if you twist NIGGER to THUG, then its "not racist". It's basically saying these entertainers are criminals or potential criminals. So according to them, it's not really racist.

The conservatives despise the hip-hop community. They believe that the music endorses sexism, violence and anti-cop rhetoric.

Things that make conservative cry hypocrisy towards Hillary Clinton. They believe that she's using her position as a woman to win "feminist" votes. The conservatives believe Blacks are slaves to the Democratic Party. In their mindsets, they believe Blacks are poor, lazy, uneducated and potential criminals. They think that every police shooting of an unarmed suspect is justified. No matter what the situation.
Hip-hop celebs endorse Hillary. 50 Cent, Ja Rule, Snoop Dogg and Waka Flocka have came out for her.
And since the Republican Party embraces conservatism, the party suffers a lack of votes because in the minds of Black voters, they're too ideology rigid. They have no place for Black voters.

Yeah, there may be some Black, Hispanic and other races who embrace conservatism and the Republicans, but there considered "tone deaf" or the "crazy uncle" at the family reunion.

We don't call Black Republicans "UNCLE TOMS". We call them that "CRAZY FAMILY MEMBER" who we try not to engage conversation with.

As black-ish explained it: Republicans, we just don't do that!

Damn, Stallmigo Marco Rubio (R-FL) is running too. He's a big fan of hip-hop. He loves Big Snoop, 50 Cent, Lil' Wayne and Wiz Khalifa. But I guess that "R" on his chest keep the rappers away from him.

Hillary Clinton is still not inspiring to me. I don't know why?
Hillary grinding when she was Secretary of State.
I think she's a great candidate for the Democrats. But somehow, whenever they run perennial candidates against a newcomer, I believe the newcomer will always win.

Nonetheless, the obsession with her is too much for me to stomach. We know a majority of Republicans and conservatives hate her and Bill Clinton. All this talk about everyone and anyone associated with her, Benghazi and her emails are distractions. They are not issues about the economy, national security and infrastructure.

The Republican candidates suck so much, they're hoping that they can murky the waters so much they'll make Hillary uninspiring. They know she's the only potential threat to Republicans. If they can bitch and whine so much about her, they'll try to keep Democrats away from the ballot box.

They hate President Barack Obama way more than her. So you know they're going to use him as a weapon like the Democrats used George W. Bush.

Snoop Dogg endorsed perennial loser Ron Paul for president. Then he switched gears and went with a real winner Barack Obama.

This endorsement of Hillary Clinton could benefit her with young voters.
