Marshall "Rock" Jones passed away. He was one of the original members of the legendary Ohio Players.

The bassist of the legendary funk band The Ohio Players passed away. Marshall Jones died in his home in Houston, Texas, according to the Associated Press.

Marshall "Rock" Jones was an original member of the Dayton-based funk/rock group. His daughters Donna Williams and Charlotte Phillips had said that their father peacefully in his sleep.

He was one of the original members of The Ohio Players. The band formed in 1959 as the Ohio Untouchables and it included Robert Ward, Clarence "Satch" Satchell, Cornelius Johnson, and Ralph "Pee Wee" Middlebrook. The family is planning a memorial in Dayton. Details will be announced later.

The Carmichael Show Makes The Cut!

NBC gives critically acclaimed sitcom a third season. The Carmichael Show is a very good comedy.

The NBC comedy featuring Jerrod Carmichael, Loretta Devine and David Alan Grier will be on for a third season. After three weeks of patience and a lot of talk behind the scenes, NBC announces that the comedy is a go for season three. They preordered a 13-episode season.

The issue was how NBC was going to order 10 episodes instead of 20th Century Fox TV's request for a full 13 episode season.

The Carmichael Show is extremely good. But it's not a ratings draw according to NBC. The critically acclaimed sitcom was on the bubble. Tonight I am happy to announce that The Carmichael Show will return in the fall.

Inspired by the life and comedy of stand-up comic Carmichael, The Carmichael Show follows Jerrod and his opinionated Southern family as they reluctantly deal with modern-day America knocking at their front door. Nothing is off limits, including religion, sex, politics, mental health and gender identity. David Alan Grier, Loretta Devine, Amber Stevens West, Rel Howery and Tiffany Haddish co-star. Danielle Sanchez-Witzel is the showrunner.

But the price was heavy for every other show that was featured on the struggling network.

Eva Longoria's sitcom Telenovela, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, Crowded, Game of Silence, Heartbeat, Heroes Reborn, The Mysteries of Laura, The Player, Truth Be Told, Undateable and You, Me and the Apocalypse were canceled.

America Ferrera's sitcom Superstore survives for a season two.

CBS also announced the CW will pickup Supergirl for Season 2. The show was costly to CBS and the move to the CW will give the show more flexibility. Supergirl will join Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. The CW kept most of their shows and I am very happy about the network keeping Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, iZombie and Jane The Virgin. These shows were critically acclaimed and were on the bubble.

Even though the critics praised the musical dramedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, the ratings weren't good.

Rachel Bloom, the series star and producer won a Golden Globe for her role on the show and the CW gave her an opportunity to keep the show viable for a second season.

ABC canceled The Muppets. The reboot of the lovable characters didn't muster enough support.

Nashville was a shocking announcement. The musical drama was prepped for a season five but ABC decided that it's curtains. Fans are hoping that Netflix or Hulu will work out a deal.

The Mindy Project survived a breathe of life. When Fox canceled the show, fan outcry drove a petition to get it on Hulu. So far, it's on Hulu and will likely be in syndication soon.

I will give my honest take on the U.S. 2016-17 TV season in August.

I will be watching The Carmichael Show. Will you?

A Lil' Damita Jo?

Janet Jackson cancels tour. The media claims that she's pregnant and expecting.

Some news made the rounds today. A famous pop singer decided to end a world tour for personal matters and her fans are excited about it. Janet Jackson might have a little bun in the oven.

"My husband and I are planning our family," she said, beaming in a video posted to Twitter.

Her doctors have ordered her to rest up, which means she's postponing the second leg of her Unbreakable world tour indefinitely.

"We're in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change," she announced in the video. "I thought it was important that you would be the first to know my husband and I are planning our family, so I'm going to have to delay the tour. Please, if you can try to understand that it's important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor's orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue to tour as soon as I possibly can."

Janet Jackson and her billionaire husband Wissam Al Mana are considering raising children and many in the junk food media speculate that Janet is pregnant.
Janet and her husband Wissam Al Mana.
The announcement does not make it abundantly clear whether the couple is already expecting a baby, trying to start a family or process of adopting a child. USA TODAY's request for clarification was not immediately answered.

In December, she announced she would have to move the tour back to the spring so she could undergo an unspecified surgery. A month later, she had to shoot down rumors that she was going to have to postpone her tour because she had cancer, and warned fans not to believe any news about her health unless it came from her own lips.

We wish Janet well on her journey.

Joe Alaskey Passed Away!

Joe Alaskey, the voice of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck passed away today.

Joe Alaskey, the voice of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety and Sylvester and numerous characters in Warner Bros. animation passed away. Alaskey was one of the greatest successors post-Mel Blanc.

Alaskey also voiced Tiny Toons character Plucky Duck during the 1990s cartoon. Plucky. the spunky best friend of Buster and Babs Bunny, Plucky idolized Daffy Duck.

Alaskey also voiced Grandpa Lou Pickles on Rugrats (inheriting the role after David Doyle's death in 1997). He voiced Lou again in the Rugrats spin-off series, All Grown Up!. and all three films. He also voiced Stinkie in Casper as well as that film's 1996 animated spin-off, The Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper.

That's All Folks..... The famed words of Porky Pig, the iconic character from Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies.

May he rest in peace. Hopefully his legacy will go unnoticed. Alaskey was part of your childhood throughout the 1990s. Those were the days when Saturday Morning Cartoons were good.

It's been over a year since they were eliminated from ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and The CW.

World News Today send our condolences to the family of Joe Alaskey.

National Adoption Day!

Today is National Adoption Day.

A number of courts and communities in the United States come together to finalize thousands of children from foster care. More than 300 events are held each year on the Saturday before the Thanksgiving weekend.

In the U.S. and Puerto Rico, many American children in foster care will be adopted.

About 40,000 children could be adopted a year from foster care.

It was started by The Alliance for Children's Rice, Children's Action Network, the Freddie Mac Foundation and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

The Wendy's founder Dave Thomas grew up in a foster home and before he started one of the country's largest fast food restaurants, he devoted his life to community service.

He would create the foundation to help young children find homes.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the definition of marriage is bound by two loving couples. Now straight and gay couples across the United States will have an opportunity to adopt children.

My community has the Montgomery County Job and Family Services. The adoption home sits on 1921 North Main Street. It's been there for years. The adoption agency is devoted to help children find homes.

World News Today offers our support to National Adoption Day.

No child should not be without a home.

A State Of Emergency In The Nation Of Cosby!

Over 50 women came forward. Cosby still denies sexually assault them.

So over 50 women accused the entertainer of sexual misconduct.

There was an explosive interview on Dateline. There were over 27 women who sat with Kate Snow to tell the nation that Dr. William H. Cosby, Jr. is a nasty pervert.

Bill Cosby, the famous comedian and America's day seen his legacy collapse before his eyes.

The guy who told Black men to pull his pants up is caught with his pants down. And now he's facing an embarrassing moment in which all the women who idolized him now scorning him.

He would groom actresses and model at his private home. He would engage in conversation with the women and give them a drink. The drink would have a funny taste in it. After eight hours, you're in his bedroom with no clothes and a satisfied comedian.

When you threaten to tell the law on him, he would cut a $$$$$$$$ check.

I mean he's worth $430 million. From his sitcoms, movies, animations, books, endorsements, and comedy albums, he made millions.

A defamation lawsuit brought against Bill Cosby by three women who say he sexually abused them decades ago can move forward, a federal judge in Massachusetts ruled Friday, delivering a legal blow to the comedian as he attempts to defend himself against accusations of sexual assault by dozens of women.

Over a two dozen women went to NBC to share their horrific experience with America's dad.
The women claim in their lawsuit that Cosby's representatives damaged their reputations by denying their allegations in sometimes disparaging language. Cosby's lawyers had asked the judge to dismiss their suit, arguing that the remarks were personal opinions protected by the First Amendment and legal declarations made in his defense.

But in his ruling Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Mark Mastroianni rejected Cosby's bid to dismiss the case before it ever goes to a jury.

The women — Tamara Green, Therese Serignese and Linda Traitz — have accused Cosby of drugging them and then having unwanted sexual contact with them.

The comments they claim were defamatory range from statements dismissing their accusations as "ridiculous claims" and "absurd fabrication" to longer remarks that sought to discredit the accusers.
Keisha Knight-Pulliam can't defend Bill no more. She sits with celebrity agitator Wendy Williams to discuss the accusations.
"As the old saying goes, 'consider the source," ended one statement that touched on Traitz's criminal and prison record.

In his ruling, Mastroianni rejects Cosby's argument that the statements were legal declarations made in self-defense.

"The court recognizes that some jurisdictions do apply a version of the conditional self-defense privilege, which allows individuals, in certain circumstances, to publish defamatory responsive statements necessary to defend their reputation. However ... such a privilege does not permit a defendant to knowingly publish false statements of fact," the judge wrote in his 38-page ruling.
Malcolm Jamal-Warner said he can't defend Bill.
Telephone messages left for four attorneys who represent Cosby in the Massachusetts lawsuit were not immediately returned. Cosby has a house in Shelburne Falls, in western Massachusetts.

"As we'd expected and hoped, the judge rejected every one of Mr. Cosby's attempts to throw the case out of court and allowed the case to proceed," said Joseph Cammarata, an attorney who represents the three women.

"We will take Mr. Cosby's deposition at the earliest possible moment. My clients look forward to moving the case forward and to restoring their good names and reputations."

"Dateline NBC" aired a special Friday night in which 29 Cosby accusers were interviewed together about their allegations. Cosby has never been charged with a crime and he has denied the allegations.

Cosby was deposed Friday in a Los Angeles case against him. Lawyer Gloria Allred, the defendant's lawyer in that case, said she would speak on the deposition Saturday in Boston. A third lawsuit in also pending in Los Angeles.

Court documents unsealed in July show Cosby admitting in 2005 to carrying on extramarital relationships with several women, including some who accuse him of sexual assault. The testimony added to the unsavory details that have all but wrecked his nice-guy reputation as TV's Dr. Cliff Huxtable and made a mockery of his preaching about decency and personal responsibility.

Bad Blood: Georgia Sons Tried To Murder Parents!

Two brothers tried to murder their parents. The law put them in lockup.

I guess it's going to be awkward at these family reunions. Two suburban Atlanta men are held in the county lockup for attempted murder. The attempted murder of their parents.

Damn, why would you murder the parents? Were you guys loosing the allowance?

Anyway, here's the rundown of the situation. The brothers Cameron and Chris Ervin both got charges out the ass. They attacked their parents after a heated dispute.

Yvonne Ervin called 911 Saturday morning and reported that she and husband Zachary were being attacked in their own home.

The perpetrators, she told police, were their own children. They were giving their parents a five finger knuckle roll alongside a toe jam side order.

"(Yvonne Ervin) stated to our 911 operator that her sons were trying to kill her and her husband," Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Rich Long told CNN.

But quick thinking from both mother and father enabled Yvonne to briefly escape from their sons long enough to call for help.

"(Yvonne Ervin) told the 911 operator that (her husband) had distracted the sons and that she was able to call," said Long. "That was probably the life-saving move from this event."

When police arrived at the Ervin family home in suburban Snellville northeast of Atlanta, "Zachary came out of the garage and collapsed," said Long. "He had a lot of head and body injuries from blunt force trauma and stab wounds on his back." Zachary Ervin was hospitalized in critical condition. Long said he and Yvonne are expected to survive.
Yvonne Ervin called 911 and reported that she and husband Zachary were being attacked by their own sons.
Brothers got angry at parents. They tried to murder them.
Police said the sons -- both of whom lived at home with them, according to CNN affiliate WSB -- were at the house when officers arrived, and the two were immediately arrested.

As brutal as the attack on the parents was, that wasn't the full extent of it, according to police. The sons also plotted to burn the home down, and had "introduced natural gas into the house," Long said.

Christopher (age 22) and Cameron Ervin (age 17) have each been charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault and two felony counts of first degree arson, according to Long. Under Georgia state law, 17-year-olds are considered adults in criminal cases, so both will be tried as adults, said Long, who added that investigators still don't know of any motive.

"There is no official motive at this point, but there has to be something more to this. I'm sure they didn't just wake up and decide to kill their parents yesterday," Long said on Sunday.

WSB reported the brothers were to be appointed defense attorneys Sunday, but it was not immediately clear if that had happened or who the attorneys are. Long said both suspects are expected to be in court at some point this week.

World News Today send our prayers to the Zachary and Yvonne Erwin.

Giveaway For The Veterans!

Vice President Joe Biden visits the Arlington National Cemetery for Veterans Day.

As we mark the all important Veteran's Day: Do you thank a veteran?

Do you visit the grave of a family member or even a stranger who served in the U.S. military?

As we celebrate Veteran's Day is a day that gives thanks to all men and women who served in our military. This is one of the country's most important days. To give time to thank our troops who served in the long fought wars is a honor.

The president delivered his weekend address to thank the men and women actively serving and the veterans. His new Veterans Administration secretary Bob McDonald is working on fixing the hospitals and wait times that cause a great uproar this year.

While the president is overseas, Vice President Joe Biden visits Arlington to devote his gratitude to the unknowns who fought and died for America.

Our conservative agitators are probably bitching about the president being overseas instead of thanking the troops. President Barack Obama heading to Asia instead of visiting troops. Although there's military bases in Japan, South Korea and the U.S. territories, the agitators will ignore the fact that the president delivered an address. He honored five service members (living or deceased) for their service. And First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden are working to help children of military families.

The Republicans devoted their time to give the president a headache this year. They won control of Congress despite them not passing bills to help veterans.

To all our men and women who served or died.

Thank you for your service.

Deal$ Under The Family Dollar Tree!

Virginia-based Dollar Tree is going for the Tennessee-based Family Dollar brands. The possible merger of two of the nation's thrifty stores could spell MONOPOLY. An $8.5 billion deal is going forth.

The Family Dollar stores are struggling. I didn't know that they're feeling the heat literally. I mean if you head to a Deal$ or Dollar Tree you're expected to find something for at least a $1 at best.

Stockholders of Family Dollar Stores will receive $59.60 in cash and the equivalent of $14.90 in shares of Dollar Tree for each share they own. The companies put the value of the transaction at $74.50 per share, which is an approximately 23 percent premium to Family Dollar's Friday closing price of $60.66.

The companies put the enterprise value of the deal, including debt and other costs, at more than $9 billion.

Family Dollar stockholders will own somewhere between 12.7 percent and 15.1 percent of Dollar Tree's outstanding common shares at closing. Shares spiked more than 24 percent and were headed for an all-time high before the opening bell Monday.

Shares of Dollar Tree neared an all-time high.

Core customers for bargain stores and major retailers like Wal-Mart have been among the hardest hit by the recession and its aftermath because of job instability.

Family Dollar has struggled and has attempted to reinvigorate sales by lowering prices on almost 1,000 basic items. It's cut some jobs and shuttered underperforming stores.

The company had been conducting a strategic review since the winter, and investor Carl Icahn urged Family Dollar last month to put itself up for sale. Icahn has built up a stake in the company of more than 9 percent, according to regulatory filings.

Dollar Tree CEO Bob Sasser said Monday that the deal will give Dollar Tree more than 13,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada. That is nearly three times as many stores as Wal-Mart Stores Inc., though Wal-Mart's square footage is still greater.

The companies did not say if any Dollar Tree or Family Dollar stores would be closed.

The combined Dollar Tree-Family Dollar chain will have sales of more than $18 billion and Sasser says that the transaction will create a more diverse company with an enhanced geographic reach.

Dollar Tree stores sell products for $1 or less, while Family Dollar's pricing is much broader.

Dollar Tree will continue to operate under the existing Dollar Tree, Deals, and Dollar Tree Canada store signs. It will keep the Family Dollar brand as well.

Family Dollar Chairman and CEO Howard Levine will still lead those stores and report to Sasser. He will join Dollar Tree's board.

Dollar Tree plans to finance the deal with available cash, bank debt and bonds.

The boards of both companies have unanimously approved the deal, which is expected to close by early next year. It still needs approval from Family Dollar shareholders.

Shares of Family Dollar Stores Inc., based in Charlotte, North Carolina, surged $14.89 to $75.55 in premarket trading. The record high during regular trading is $75.29. Shares of Dollar Tree Inc., based in Chesapeake, Virginia, jumped 10 percent, or $5.50 to $59.72. The all-time high for that stock is $60.19.

Dumb Luck!

Feel good story.

Alright now. A 26-year old Georgia man will no longer have to live his mama. He finally got enough money to move out. By chance, a day of cleaning out his room yielded him a winning Powerball ticket for a cool million.

Gregory Jerrett happened to buy a Powerball ticket a month back. During its $424 million jackpot in January, he decided to buy him one. He must have heard that the winner came from California and he decided to throw it aside knowing he didn't win the huge jackpot. Well I guess cleaning out his closet netted him a payday.

He used his siblings birthdays as the numbers.

He tells his mom. They carefully verify the winning ticket and had a moment of embrace.

“She verified it, and at that point, we hugged.” Jarrett told the junk food media.

With taxes he will collect at least $735,000 in winnings.

In most states, the Powerball and Mega Millions are played. In 43 states with the District of Columbia and U.S. Virgin Islands, the two multi-state lotteries are often played when the prizes reaches over $200 million respectively.

The Mega Millions is once again rising to record setting amounts. So I am guessing by game time it will be over $700 million by draw time.

Are you game?

I know that your risk is 1:345. So that means the odds of winning is one in 345 million.

If you're not aware of the game, it's pretty simple. The Mega Millions is a multi-state game that covers 45 states including the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The cost of playing a Mega Million ticket is $1. The ticket comes with a Multiplier (except in California).

The jackpot starts at $15 million.

The drawings are on Tuesday and Friday night at 10:59pm EST.

The game cost only $1 per unit. You must pick five numbers from 1 to 75. When you're done, you get the opportunity to pick a Mega Ball. Out of 15 numbers, you will have to pick one Mega Ball number. The jackpot results are a match of 5 White Balls + 1 Megaball. A player can win $1 million (if you score 5 out of 5 without the Megaball).

You're allowed five lines per unit you're playing one single drawing ticket at $5 per unit. So basically you're playing $1 per line. Add the multiplier and its one per line with multiplier so it would be $2 per unit. So at five lines per unit and with multiplier its $10 per unit.

The game in states that are participating included a multiplier. The multiplier is a function that allows the player to increase their wins by a special X ball. The multiplier is (1X), (2X), (3X), (4X) and (5X).

Powerball is played in 43 states including The District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.

The cost of playing a Powerball ticket is $2. The ticket comes with the Power Play (except in California).
File:Powerballlogo.png
The Nation's Largest Multi-State Lottery.

The Power Play cost $1 dollar. There is a set prize amount for Power Play addition. You can earn up to $1 million or $2 million upon the Power Play (if you score 5 out of 5 without the Powerball).

There are five Powerball numbers. From 1 to 59, you must pick the numbers. When you're done you have an opportunity to pick a Powerball. The Powerball number is out of 35. The jackpot results in a win of 5 White Balls + 1 Powerball.

The Power Play was reestablished as a multiplier. The function allows the player to increase their odds by the special X ball. The multiplier is (1X), (2X), (3X), (4X), and (5X).

The drawings are on Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59pm EST.

The Powerball jackpot usually starts at $40 million.

Okay, I know there are some who are novice and never had an experience at playing.

The Mega Millions and Powerball tickets that are played cannot be canceled.

Be careful when making a bet decision.

Of course you have to be over 18 years old to play a Mega Millions or Powerball ticket.

All results for Mega Millions and Powerball are for the state that you've purchased your ticket from.

The impact of being a millionaire comes with a price. You could blow money fast in a few years. Believe me there have been many Americans who lavish in luxury only to be broke in less than 10 years.

The rules of winning the lottery.

Best advice for all who win the lottery, is keep a cool head. Let's cover the 10 things about winning the lottery according to me. You can use this advice if you want to!

The first thing you do is write your name down on the back of the winning ticket. Say if you lose the jackpot ticket! If you have forgotten to sign the ticket and it gets lost, then it's your word against the winner's.

Second, make sure you cancel out your Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or any other social networking website your on. That's the next thing that happens when you're a winner.

Third, you cancel your phone number and limit your email intake. Obviously you'll be swamped with phone numbers and well wishers asking if you're willing to shelve out a little cash.

Fourth, hire a qualified lottery attorney. Make sure you have a qualified attorney who specializes in handling large sums of money. Don't assume every attorney is well respected in handling your financial earnings.

Fifth, don't quit a job until you are sure you've won the lottery. Don't rush to judgment about being a lottery winner. Sometimes a person who wins the lottery never expects it to happen so don't sit around the house hoping the day will come you'll be the millionaire.

Sixth, pay off debts to college loans, house, billings, and credit cards.

Seventh, invest your money in a trust fund if you have children or family members you can trust if you should die.

Eighth, have fun with your earnings. Don't blow it on things that obviously will attract negative attention.

Ninth, be humble. Cause money will change a person when they're rich.

Lastly, The Have-Nots Will Always Try To Make You Feel Guilty About Winning. Ignore Them And Be Happy About Your Success.

Independence Day!

The third most active holiday in the year. Independence Day. We celebrate 237 years since the United States of America was formed.

The day we celebrate America's "freedom".

It's not a real great day for those who fought for Civil Rights in the South.

The Supreme Court revoked the portion of the Voting Rights Act in which would have the government watch localities that try to play shenanigans at the ballot box.

The junk food media's conservative agitators are hoping that idiot gets off with an acquittal of the murder of Trayvon Martin. They want to see Black America riot in the street so they can blame President Barack Obama for the decision. That idiot thought it was "god's plan" to kill an unarmed teenager. Yeah, those in the media want to wrap the case up with that idiot walking out in a hoodie.

We lost 19 of our brave firefighters in Prescott, Arizona. There was a severe wildfire in the desert and this "hot shot" team were caught off guard by a shifting wind and overwhelmingly hot temperatures. We here at Journal de la Reyna send our condolences to those lost in this senseless tragedy.

The LGBT community can now have benefits as a married couple. In 14 states will allow gay marriage and the possibility of legal challenges will continue in states that don't accept it. Since the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act and the California Proposition 8, many same sex couples are celebrating and are rushing to the alter. The decision tosses it back to the lower courts.

Our men and women serving overseas in Afghanistan and military bases abroad are not here celebrating. We once again thank them for their service and wish them safe. The military have expanded its resources across the world and many Americans are cautious about intervention in Egypt and Syria.

The United States Congress are once again on a vacation. The members of Congress job approval is at 13%  right  now. With the conservative members of both the Republican and Democratic Party stalling progress, we the American people suffer. The student loans rate will go up now that the Stafford Loan expired.

Just like with the E85 and green energy credits expiring, now another benefit to helping is being scrapped.

You see that our Congress inactiveness has hurt the president's job approval as well.

We're in a sequester. A forced mandate in which it advocates painful cuts to the government and it's impact is being felt in the local communities. The air shows allow U.S. Air Force planes to perform at the shows. In my community, their annual air show ended with a tragedy. A woman who is a professional plane walker died along with her pilot in a crash. Jane Wicker and her pilot Charlie Schwenker died at the Vectren Dayton Air Show in June. Air shows have seen cutbacks with attendance with the lost of Air Force planes.

Look there are plenty of things to be thankful for this holiday weekend. I am proud to be an American.

But there are some things that makes me shake my head in disgust. Our freedom of speech has gotten even more nastier. I am more nastier in how I address the public nowadays. I keep a small circle and it's really getting smaller.

I am not perfect and I don't want to call myself anything less.

But nowadays, if we could allow our freedom of speech create hateful websites, countless gun crimes, legal limbo from the court and the lawmakers, and the despair of hundreds if not millions of those in need:

What is there to celebrate freedom for?

We can barbecue and have fireworks, but we don't have the decency to say thanks to a soldier or help a person in need because we're feed bias by the junk food media, yeah what's is there to celebrate freedom for?

BREAKING: SCOTUS Strikes Down DOMA And Prop. 8!

Historical decisions was handed today.

The LGBT community and President Barack Obama can relish in a huge victory. The Supreme Court had handed the conservatives a defeat. Another devastating blow to the right wing extremism. This will be discussed by the usual suspects in the junk food media.

Now you'll hear from our conservative agitating buddies about how this is going down. They'll say that this was an activist court decision. The Supreme Court has been criticized for this decision as well as the striking down of the Voter Rights Act.

Wow, what a monumental decision. The liberal wing of the Supreme Court assisted with Justice Anthony Kennedy, struck down the controversial Defense of Marriage Act, a legislation that devolved marriage between a man and woman.

Again, I throw my hat to those who fought for this victory. They deserve the right to marry and it's not hurting anyone!

The law passed both houses of Congress by large majorities and was signed into law by President Bill Clinton on September 21, 1996. Section 3 of DOMA codified the non-recognition of same-sex marriages for all federal purposes, including insurance benefits for government employees, Social Security survivors' benefits, immigration, and the filing of joint tax returns.

Clinton and key legislators have changed their positions and advocated DOMA's repeal. The Obama administration announced in 2011 that it had determined that section 3 was unconstitutional and, though it would continue to enforce the law, it would no longer defend it in court. In response, the Republican leadership of the House of Representatives instructed the House General Counsel to defend the law in place of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Section 3 of DOMA has been found unconstitutional in eight federal courts, including the First and Second Circuit Court of Appeals, on issues including bankruptcy, public employee benefits, estate taxes, and immigration.[n 1] The U.S. Supreme Court in United States v. Windsor, declared Section 3 of DOMA unconstitutional on June 26, 2013, "as a deprivation of the equal liberty of persons that is protected by the Fifth Amendment.

United States v. Windsor is a landmark United States Supreme Court case in which the Court held that Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit affirmed the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York's decision in Windsor v. United States, which found Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) unconstitutional, as it defines the term marriage as "a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife" and spouse as "a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife".

The U.S. Supreme Court granted certiorari in December 2012 and heard oral arguments on March 27, 2013. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Windsor on June 26, 2013, striking down Section 3 of DOMA and declaring the provision unconstitutional under the Fifth Amendment.

There are over 30 states that have gay marriage bans. This decision will eventually null and void these bans.

The California Proposition 8 was a ballot measure that allowed citizens to discriminate. It was voted in and placed into a state constitutional amendment after the November 2008 state elections. The measure added a new provision, Section 7.5 of the Declaration of Rights, to the California Constitution, which provides that "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."

By restricting the recognition of marriage to opposite-sex couples, the proposition effectively overturned the California Supreme Court's ruling of In re Marriage Cases that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry. The wording of Proposition 8 was precisely the same as that which had been found in Proposition 22, which had passed in 2000 and, as an ordinary statute, had been invalidated by the State Supreme Court in 2008. California's State Constitution put Proposition 8 into immediate effect the day after the election.

The proposition did not affect domestic partnerships in California, nor same-sex marriages performed before November 5, 2008.

Hollingsworth v. Perry is a case before the United States Supreme Court, on appeal from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. There, a three judge appellate panel held that California's Proposition 8, a 2008 ballot initiative that amended the state constitution to allow only opposite-sex couples to marry, was unconstitutional.

Lawsuits challenging Proposition 8 were filed in state and federal courts nearly immediately after the initiative's passage. In Strauss v. Horton (2009), the California Supreme Court ruled that Proposition 8 was a valid enactment under California law. However, in August 2010, Judge Vaughn Walker of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California ruled that Proposition 8 violated the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The judgment was stayed pending appeal.

On February 7, 2012, a divided three judge panel of the Ninth Circuit upheld the decision of the district court, though it did so on much narrower grounds than the District Court did.

On June 5, 2012, the Ninth Circuit denied a request for a rehearing en banc.

The proponents of Proposition 8 appealed the case to the U.S. Supreme Court on July 31, 2012.

The Supreme Court agreed to hear the case by granting a writ of certiorari on December 7, 2012. Oral arguments were heard on March 26, 2013.

On June 26, 2013, the Court held that the parties who had intervened to defend Proposition 8 (after the state of California declined to defend it) did not have standing. The Supreme Court remanded the case to the Ninth Circuit with instructions that the appeal be dismissed.

The case has long been regarded as a landmark case by supporters of both the plaintiffs and the defense.

The plaintiffs' attorneys, Theodore Olson and David Boies, were listed on the 2010 Time 100 for "their nonpartisan and strong legal approach to challenging Proposition 8".

The Defense of Marriage Act, the law barring the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages legalized by the states, is unconstitutional, the Supreme Court ruled Wednesday by a 5-4 vote.

"The federal statute is invalid, for no legitimate purpose overcomes the purpose and effect to disparage and to injure those whom the State, by its marriage laws, sought to protect in personhood and dignity,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion. “By seeking to displace this protection and treating those persons as living in marriages less respected than others, the federal statute is in violation of the Fifth Amendment.”

Justice Kennedy delivered the court’s opinion, and was joined by Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Antonin Scalia and Samuel Alito all filed dissenting opinions. Justice Clarence Thomas joined Scalia's dissent in whole and parts of Alito's opinion.

DOMA, signed by President Bill Clinton in 1996, prevents same-sex couples whose marriages are recognized by their home state from receiving the hundreds of benefits available to other married couples under federal law. During the Obama administration, the Justice Department initially defended DOMA in court despite the administration’s desire to repeal it. But the Justice Department changed course in early 2011, finding that the law was unconstitutional and declining to defend it any longer. House Republicans have since spent hundreds of thousands of dollars taking over that defense.

Plaintiff Edie Windsor, 84, sued the federal government after the Internal Revenue Service denied her refund request for the $363,000 in federal estate taxes she paid after her spouse, Thea Spyer, died in 2009.

During the March oral arguments in United States v. Windsor, a majority of the court seemed to express doubts about the constitutionality of DOMA. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said that supporters of the law seemed to want "two types of marriage," likening same-sex unions to the "skim milk" version of marriage.

The Associated Press and Huffington Post contribute to the remainder.

Cheerio!

The little cute child in the Cheerios commercial.

The controversy isn't going away and many Americans like me and S. Baldwin are frustrated with the ongoing ignorance online.

I've told friends and family that "ignorance brings the worse out of me sometimes" and yes it's mostly due to those individuals who rally online hate of interracial, Black and Hispanic children. They are innocent and the reactions to that adorable commercial is beyond the pale of ignorance in America.

It's bad enough, these so-called patriots think America is the land of the free when they're the ones who are trying to deny others the opportunities to succeed in the country.

They look at us as the enemy and the reasons for the economic turmoils.

Instead of trying to solve problems, you have politicians with no legislative accomplishments trying to make noise instead of solutions.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Senator Lindsay Graham (R-South Carolina), Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota) for example.

They have no legislative accomplishments and yet they're the ones front and center on the televisions being the serial agitators they're painted out to be.

They created the hostile atmosphere for which these online assholes rant and rave about how an interracial family enjoying a bowl of cereal is the end of the world.

For Pete's sake, I can't stomach the ignorance online. However in the country, they're entitled to be the assholes they are based on the First Amendment of The Bill Of Rights.

Yes, the Bill Of Rights are the first 10 amendments of the U.S. Constitution.

Here's a parody of the Cheerios commercial that shows an interracial family and the response to the criticism from the white hot ignorance.

Browner!

White Extremists will not be pleased about the U.S. birth rate. For the first time, over half of the nation's minority population outnumbers Whites. It began at the peak of 5 years old.

It's official, the interracial birth rate has surpassed the White birth rate.

The conservative/white supremacist bubble will not be happy about this bit of news.

Earlier this month, the noise made about Cheerios having an adorable commercial about a little girl being a interested in the cereal's benefits to her dad's health. She ends up pouring them on her dad's chest.

The noise was made over the family being interracial. So many racist comments came down the pipeline, the people over at YouTube had to shut down the comments section.

Sure enough, me and S. Baldwin were shocked about the impact that one little commercial caused.

Now the Associated Press reports that for the first time, America's racial and ethnic minorities make up about half of the under-5 age group, the US government said on Thursday. It's a historic shift that shows how young people are at the forefront of sweeping changes by race and class.
Pick your flavor of Cheerios.
The new census estimates, a snapshot of the US population as of July 2012, come a year after the Census Bureau reported that whites had fallen to a minority among babies. Fueled by immigration and high rates of birth, particularly among Hispanics, racial and ethnic minorities are now growing more rapidly in numbers than whites.

Based on current rates of growth, whites in the under-5 group are expected to tip to a minority this year or next, said Thomas Mesenbourg, the Census Bureau's acting director.

The government also projects that in five years, minorities will make up more than half of children under 18. Not long after that, the total US white population will begin a decline in absolute numbers, due to aging baby boomers.

The nation's demographic changes are already stirring discussion as to whether some civil rights-era programs, such as affirmative action in college admissions, should be retooled to focus more on income rather than race and ethnicity. The Supreme Court will rule on the issue this month.

The gap between rich and poor in the US has now stretched to its widest since 1970, making opportunities to reach the middle class increasingly difficult.

Longer-term changes in family structure, such as a decline in marriage, have led to a rise in single-mother households across all racial groups, with the fastest growth now occurring among whites. More than 40 percent of newborns are now born out of wedlock, in families more likely to be low income.

The latest census numbers show:

* The population younger than 5 stood at 49.9 percent minority in 2012.
The Cheerios commercial that caused controversy. It had an interracial family and White extremists attacked it.
* For the first time in more than a century, the number of deaths now exceeds births among white Americans. This "natural decrease'' occurred several years before the government's original projection. For now, the white population is still increasing slightly, due to immigration from Europe.

* As a whole, the nonwhite population increased by 1.9 percent to 116 million, or 37 percent of the US The fastest percentage growth is among multiracial Americans, followed by Asians and Hispanics. Non-Hispanic whites make up 63 percent of the US; Hispanics, 17 percent; blacks, 12.3 percent; Asians, 5 percent; and multiracial Americans, 2.4 percent.

* Among the under-5 age group, 22 percent live in poverty. Black toddlers were most likely to be poor, at 41 percent, followed by Hispanics at 32 percent and whites at 13 percent. Asian toddlers had a poverty rate of 11 percent.

"More so than ever, we need to recognize the importance of young minorities for the growth and vitality of our labor force and economy," said William H Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution who analyzed the census data.

The gaps in achievement tend to emerge early in childhood, and disparities are especially evident in SAT admission scores. College Board data show that average scores spread as wide as 130-140 points in each of the reading, math and writing sections for a student with family income of less than $20,000, compared with a student with family income exceeding $200,000.

About 40 percent of whites age 25-29 graduate from college, compared with 15 percent for Latinos and 23 percent for blacks.

...Never Enough Children!

A great father's day story. A man who is in court for unpaid child support for his 22 children. He only 33-years old and he has more children than most rappers and sports figures. No offense to Shawty Lo.

Okay, I am starting to see why the Black father is always anchored as a dead beat. Check out the father from the Nashville, Tennessee area.

Orlando Shaw is only 33 years old and the man has 22 children and 14 women who raised them.

This brother makes rapper Shawty Lo looks like a saint.

Nashville family court wants this man to pay up on the child support. My question to these people reading:

How come these women didn't know this man had more than five children?

Shaw explains, "I was young and ambitious and I loved women. Hey, you can’t knock no man for loving women."

Speaking outside a Nashville courthouse, Shaw fudged the numbers when he said (incorrectly) he has "roughly 18" children with 17 women.
At least he has the money to pay for all his baby mamas!
It is estimated the government pays more than US$7000 ($7293) per month to help support all his children.

Magistrate Scott Rosenberg said Shaw would have to take three or four full-time jobs to even come close to paying the child support he owes.

Shaw, however, says his criminal record is an impediment to employment. "I can’t pay no child support right now," he says. "I go everywhere looking for a job. Where am I going to get one with my lengthy record?"

He has a plan though. "I play the hell out of the Tennessee lottery," he says.
Before he got dreads, this is Orlando Shaw.

He also says he does not plan to have any more children. "I want to be fixed," he says.

Glad he's not in North Carolina. If the Republicans had their way, he would have not been able to play the lottery under their intrusion act that prevents dead beat parents and those on assistance from playing.

Glad he's not Shawty Lo. He would be all on Loserville being mentioned by That Guy Who Helped Obama Win or Bill-O. After all the rapper gets a reality show and it was canceled because of the outrage from those in the junk food media.

Sure thing he's not splashed on That Guy Who Throws Shit On The Wall.

I bet he's already mentioned on one of those White supremacist shitholes.

Will someone blame President Barack Obama for this man's behavior?

Sure enough, if he was castrated he wouldn't populate the planet. He wants to lose his manhood!

They're got to be more than just Black women. There's probably White women or interracial women who fell in love with this man.

Is there something I'm missing? Do I need dreads to attract women?

Shawty Lo appears on Asylum Records. He is affiliated with G-Unit.

Summer Ale!

Bad news overshadows the good news.

The jobs report is out and yes the economy continues to be the number one issue. These ridiculous scandals that conservatives and liberals are debating over aren't helpful to President Barack Obama. In order to keep themselves relevant in the news, we're covering the scandals with the IRS, Benghazi, and now the NSA looking into the records of our phones.

Let me repeat myself: If I am not committing a crime or threatening a politico, then I have nothing to worry about! Besides who am I to judge the president?

That stuff doesn't bother me at all. It bothers me that all these White extremists from both political aspects are tearing each other up and trying to take the president down with these ridiculous 20th Century themes.

Orwellian? Talk about 20th Century.

Anyway, the unemployment rate is 7.6%.

The country added 175,000 jobs and the job rate increased from 7.5 percent to 7.6.

The increase occurred because more people began looking for work, a healthy sign. About three-quarters found jobs. The rest added to the ranks of the unemployed.

The government revised the job figures for the previous two months. April's gains were lowered to 149,000 from 165,000. March's figure was increased slightly to 142,000 from 138,000. The net loss was 12,000 jobs.

Investors reacted positively in the first minutes after the report was released at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time. Stock index futures rose.

Employers have added an average of 155,000 jobs in past three months, below the average of 237,000 created from November through February.

The less-than-robust job growth might lead the Federal Reserve to maintain the pace of its monthly bond purchases. The Fed has said it will keep buying bonds at the same rate until the job market improves substantially. The purchases have helped drive down interest rates and boost stock prices.

Stock markets have gyrated in the past two weeks on speculation that the Fed will slow its bond purchases later this year, a step that could increase interest rates and cause stock prices to fall.

The economy "is creating jobs at a reasonable rate," Chris Williamson, chief economist with the financial research firm Markit, said in a note to clients. But he said the Fed will want to see lower unemployment before it considers scaling back its $85 billion-a-month bond-buying program.

Job growth has been steady this year, despite higher taxes and federal spending cuts. Still, some signs in the report suggested that the spending cuts and weaker global growth are weighing on the job market.

Manufacturers cut 8,000 jobs, and the federal government shed 14,000. Both were the third straight month of cuts for those industries.

Average hourly wages ticked up just a penny in May, to $23.89. That was because much of the job growth was in lower-paying industries.

But mild inflation is boosting American's purchasing power. Over the past 12 months, hourly wages have risen 2 percent. Inflation has increased just 1.1 percent in that time.

The economy grew at a solid annual rate of 2.4 percent in the first three months of the year. Consumer spending rose at the fastest pace in more than two years. But economists worry that the steep government spending cuts and higher Social Security taxes might be slowing growth in the April-June quarter to an annual rate of 2 percent or less.

Consumers appeared earlier this year to shrug off the tax increase. But in April, their income failed to grow, and they cut back on spending for the first time in nearly a year. A Social Security tax increase is costing a typical household that earns $50,000 about $1,000 this year. For a household with two high-earners, it's costing up to $4,500.

Cuts in defense spending might have slowed factory output in some areas, according to a Fed report released this week. Factory activity shrank in May for the first time since November, and manufacturers barely added jobs, according to a survey by the Institute for Supply Management.

A separate ISM survey found that service companies grew at a faster pace last month but added few jobs. Service firms have been the main source of job growth in recent months.

Some positive signs of the economy's resilience have emerged. Service companies reported an increase in new orders, the ISM found. That suggests that businesses could expand further in coming months.

And steady gains in home sales and construction are providing support for the economy even as manufacturing weakens.

Paris Jackson Hospitalized After Apparent Suicide Attempt!

Paris Jackson and her brothers vow to continue their father Michael Jackson's legacy.

We here at Journal de la Reyna send our prayers to Paris Jackson. She is the daughter of the Michael Jackson.

The King of Pop died about four years ago in an apparent drug overdose, sparking global mourning. We're coming to the anniversary of his passing.

While in custody of Katherine Jackson, the three children of the world's most recognized and famed pop star, it's a rough life. They've lost their father. The world lost an icon to the music industry.

A man who's lifestyle was considered an oddity among his critics, Michael Joseph Jackson was a father of three and he took care of them. Prince Michael (Blanket), Paris and oldest Prince (Michael Jackson, Jr).

The controversial celebrity agitator TMZ is reporting that daughter Paris is Paris Jackson was rushed to the hospital early Wednesday morning, and sources tell us it was a suicide attempt.

Paris was taken out of her Calabasas family house on a stretcher at around 2 AM and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Prince Michael (Blanket), Paris, and Prince Michael (M.J. III).
The 911 call came in at 1:27 AM.  We're told the caller reported a possible overdose, although a source connected to the emergency response said there were multiple cuts on one of her wrists.

On Tuesday night ... Paris posted some cryptic tweets, including, "I wonder why tears are salty?" ... and "yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they're here to stay."

We're told she's doing ok.

On May 19, Paris said, "Kurt Cobain is Jesus" during a video chat with someone ... and she posted the whole exchange on Vine.

ABC News reports that the Jackson family lawyer, Perry Sanders, did not specify the nature of the emergency in a written statement.

“Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are,” the statement said. “It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you [her father]. Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention. Please respect her privacy and the family’s privacy.”

Jackie, Marlon and Tito Jackson — Michael Jackson’s brothers and Paris Jackson’s uncles — echoed the sentiment.
Michael Jackson died at 50 years old on June 25, 2009.
“Thank you for the outpouring of concern and support for Paris. She is safe and doing fine,” they said in a statement. “We truly appreciate you respecting our family’s privacy at this time.”

Rowe also released a statement: “We appreciate everyone’s thoughts for Paris at this time and their respect for the family’s privacy.”

The L.A. Fire Department responded to a 911 call from Paris Jackson’s Calabasas, Calif. home at 1:27 a.m., KABC in Los Angeles reported.

An emergency at the same time at an unspecified home on Jackson’s street also included Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station deputies of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the sheriff’s department said in a prepared statement, and, “as a result, medical treatment was provided to a patient, who was transported to a hospital.”

Since the death of their father in 2009, Paris and her two brothers have been living much more public lives.

Late Tuesday night PT, just before the emergency, Jackson tweeted, “i wonder why tears are salty?” and in a tweet an hour later she quoted the Beatles, writing, “yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they’re here to stay”

According to People magazine, Paris Jackson has been seen spending more time with her biological mother, Rowe. The magazine reported that Rowe came to watch Paris Jackson in her school play, and Jackson has spent time at Rowe’s horse ranch in Palmdale, Calif.

“Paris has been going through a lot of teenage angst and feels a little bit unloved,” a source told the magazine in April. “Three months ago Paris reached out to her mother and told her she wanted to establish a relationship with her. Debbie was open to it and [Jackson's guardian and grandmother] Katherine Jackson is supportive.”
