The End of Ebony Magazine

Ebony Magazine Cover from Spring 2019

Sad news for Black media. Johnson Company magazine, Ebony, is on life support. The once-iconic Black news and celebrity magazine, the Time magazine of Black America, abruptly fired all of its staff and writers with close to no notice.

I used to read both Ebony and Jet magazine and was looking forward to the next issue.  For decades, Ebony and Jet has been one of several Black-owned publications that gives us news that are not reported in mainstream media.  The writers and editors bring objective news information pertaining to Black America as well as entertainment and fashion.  It was that magazine that cover fashion and started Fashion Fair fashion events to various cities around the nation because Black women weren't allow to model fashion due to Jim Crow and general American racism.  Those shows were very popular among Black women and Black organizations.  The company also started Fashion Fair cosmetics that are still sold in department stores around the country.

It's so sad to see the magazine I grew up as a child and teenager gone forever.  I hope someone buy the archives so we can read about historic milestones of Black America without distortions and lies so often offered in mainstream media.

With so few news outlets catering to Black America, this is the biggest blow to our collective history as well as getting accurate information without bias and distortion that often comes from mainstream media outlets.

Rest in peace, Ebony and Jet!

Here's the scoop from The Atlanta Voice:

Ebony and Jet magazines fire remainder of staff, may close
Legacy publications beset by financial issues by Miana Massey, Atlanta Voice
Ebony magazine — along with its sister publication Jet — has potentially closed its doors for good.

Former employees of the company took to Twitter last week using the hashtag #EbonyOwes to air out their frustrations with the company, as it has fired all of its employees with little to no notice.

According to USA Today, members of Ebony magazine’s digital team say they’ve been fired and haven’t received their final paychecks in the latest controversy to hit the struggling publication that has chronicled black life in America for decades.

Michael Gibson, co-chairman and founder of Austin, Texas-based Clear View Group, which owns Ebony, declined to comment to USA Today on the digital team’s dismissal, citing a “policy of not commenting on any employment practices or issues.”

The Chicago Tribune previously reported how Ebony was being pressed by the National Writers Union to pay more than $200,000 it alleged the magazine owed to freelance writers who contributed stories back in 2017. The drama sparked the hashtag #EbonyOwes on Twitter.

According to a report on Ebony.com, the magazine’s previous owner, Johnson Publishing Co., filed for bankruptcy liquidation in April, which Ebony said would not affect its operations.

“EBONY Media Operations, LLC brands, which include EBONY magazine, EBONY.com, digital magazine JET and jetmag.com and its related businesses, have viably operated independently of Johnson Publishing Company dba/ Fashion Fair Cosmetics (JPC) since Black-owned Ebony Media Operations, LLC (EMO) purchased the media assets of JPC in 2016. Black-owned investment firm CVG Group LLC assisted in the formation of EMO,” a statement read. “EMO is unaffected by the Chapter 7 bankruptcy announcement regarding the dissolution of JPC. EMO is not able to comment further and is not familiar with the facts or events of the JPC business.”
The first issue of the iconic magazine hit stands 74 years ago and took the industry by storm.

Founded by John H. Johnson in November 1945, the black-owned publication has striven always to address African-American issues, personalities and interests in a positive and self-affirming manner.

Editions of Ebony featured some of the biggest stars in Black America, including issues covered by Diana Ross, Sidney Poitier, as well as President and first lady Barack and Michelle Obama.

The Black Male: Left And Right!

A resident hands a rose to a St. Louis County deputy.

Feel free to share this.

This is a dedication to Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Darrien Hunt, Jonathon Crawford, Renisha McBride, Jordan Davis, Monica Quan, Keith Lawerence, Trayvon Martin, Christopher Lane and every other nameless victim of gun violence. May you all rest in peace.

10. You can't play cops and robbers anymore. The police might actually mistaken you for a robber.

9. If a White person owns a firearm, it's protection. If a Black person owns a firearm, they're considered a criminal.

8. If you're a Black male in a majority White area, make sure you have that music turned down, obey all motorist signs and observations. Make sure all your vehicle lights working. Let's not have a noisy muffler or engine. Have a White friend and your seat belt on. Don't argue with the law. Get their badge or unit vehicle number if you're feeling harassed by the law. But if you want to be hard and get into a situation, the law would love to find a reason to pull you over.

7. Just walk with your hands out. Obviously an officer can see that you're unarmed. The law will not shoot you mistaken you having a gun. A wallet, keys, cell phone, and even a book could be a weapon and the cop will probably shot first question last.

6. Keep them pictures private. If the victim of a shooting is a Black person, expect the junk food media to look at Facebook, Twitter, blogs and social networks to find "incriminating" evidence to prove that the victim deserved his fate. Obviously, smoking weed, pulling a gun out or wearing hip-hop apparel is a giveaway for the junk food media to exploit. They don't care about the White man who holds his gun in the presence of children. They don't care about the White woman blowing in the wind. They don't care about the White man who shoplifts gas or cigarettes from a convenience store.

5. Blacks must restrain themselves from knocking a bigot out. This is a free country. I understand that White conservatives are racist. They agitate on radio, the blogs and the social networks. I get angry too. But it's not worth killing them. You aid and abet their description of Black males being "THUGS" or "NIGGERS".

4. Voting is important. You notice that most Whites disapprove of the president's job. A majority of the problems stem from the junk food media's anything and everything about President Barack Obama. The conservatives can spin this narrative about the junk food media being in the tank for the president all day and night. But how come the Republicans won control of Congress? The junk food media gave Republicans a pass on their government shut down, their refusal to pass gun control legislation despite a major event such as Sandy Hook. The Republicans obviously want Blacks to have firearms. They want Blacks to kill each other and stroke more fear into White people.

3. Black men can't catch a break, regardless of the situation. Sometimes it's hard living in a country where you're looked upon as a criminal. It's obvious, that women are attracted to Black men because of our packages below. No question, that's probably a benefit in a way. But with that package comes responsibilities that some Black men fail at doing. We become unwed parents. We are the number one race when it comes to the rise of sexuality transmitted diseases being spread. Black men lead in the highest rate of heart disease. The law is more cruel to us because of the perception of us being criminals. The high incarceration rate among Black males is so high it's become bait for the condescending conservative agitators like Mr. 9/11 himself Rudy Giuliani to exploit.

2. Barack Obama is the first Black president. Black America already knew that the moment he said something about race, the conservative agitators will be trying to exploit it. Henry "Skip" Gates, Trayvon Martin and now Michael Brown have became Barack Obama's noose. The racist right hung it around the neck and let him hang from the tree. What the president said was truthful. The anger of the Black community goes beyond Michael Brown, its a global issue. Police profiling isn't helpful to the safety of Blacks and law enforcement. The freedom of speech allowed the musicians in the hip-hop industry share their "fantasies" of being dope boys and cop killers. The music industry exploits the Black male for his talents as singers and entertainers. How many times has a rapper mentioned guns? Anytime a rapper mentions guns, expect a conservative agitator to attack the rapper and President Barack Obama. Now compare that to White musicians like Ted Nugent who embraces guns and violence. Not one peep from the agitators. The police often single out the hip-hop music for the rise in violence. The police often look at hip-hop music as a tool towards crime.

1. There's no God. If there's a God, he wouldn't allow these people to make us look bad.

The Ghosts Of Suburbia!

Dayton, Ohio's inner suburb is officially a "ghost town".

Sometimes I've often talked about the situation in my community of Dayton, Ohio. Back in 2007, I've went to YouTube to do "A Tour of Poor Dayton" series. I've outlined the situation of my community in video and shared it with those who were familiar with the situation.

I've won praise for being an advocate for my community. But with this praise came the harsh criticism.

Often, the "you can't fix stupid" crowd would go off on me because I apparently dogged on the city.

How I've would even consider Dayton, "poor"?

I've never said the city was "poor". The situation where businesses are dying and the community is facing a terrible future is the only thing I've talked about. It's a process that is happening in most rust cities where manufacturing was the only thing that kept it going.

Target is closing in the suburb of Trotwood.
Dayton does has revenue. It's just not enough people to experience the joy! People are leaving this city in the masses. Dayton lost its metropolitan status when Springfield broke off to be a micropolitan area.

Now Dayton's metro area includes its inner and outer suburbs with the addition of Troy, Xenia and Eaton as its extended areas.

I want to tell you that so much stuff have happened over the past years, but none so than the situation happening in the suburb of Trotwood, Ohio.

The inner suburb of Dayton is now officially a "ghost town".

I've grew up on the west end of Dayton, Ohio off Gettysburg Avenue. I used to live only a mile from Trotwood. Nowadays, I've often bypassed the city

Back in the early days, Trotwood was once a tiny village. It was just a blip on the county map.

It would merge and annexed the rural Madison Township in 1997 and become a city. During its time, the city was proud to have the Salem Mall, the opening of Ohio State Route 49 extending from U.S. highway 35, and the benefits of one of the finest police force in the nation.
Sears in Trotwood has closed in 2013.
Now it's been over 15 years since Trotwood became a city. And the results are really depressing.

Think about it. With the extension of Ohio State Route 49, I thought the city was going to grow.

There's nothing much over there.

Just a few industrial parks, a food processing plant and a bunch of empty big box stores.

It was confirmed by Target, Inc. that due to insufficient sales, the retail giant is planning on closing its Trotwood and Middletown locations. This puts the nail in the coffin of a community robbed of the big box giant.

Joyce Cameron, mayor of the suburb of Trotwood.
So far this comes as a major blow after Sears and K-Mart left the Trotwood area, respectively. The downfall of Trotwood began when the Salem Mall lost its two anchor stores J.C. Penny and Lazarus (now known as Macy's). Soon all the 90 named brand stores would go out of business or the mall would have mom-and-pop stores. The Salem Mall was officially declared dead in 2003. The mall would later be razed in 2006 and Sears until 2013 was the only store left of the original building.

Then the downward spiral continued through Builder's Square, Bowl-A-Roma, Franks Garden Stores, Gold Circle, Child World Palace, Toys R Us, Elder-Berman and its furniture store (Bon Ton Stores), Walmart, Red Lobster, Arby's, Wendy's, Circuit City, Value City, Best Buy, Cub Foods, MC Sports, Woolhan Lumber Company, Sun Electronics, the West Dayton Drive-In, Loews (The Kon Tiki) Movie Theaters, Rex Electronics, Best, Noble Romans Pizza, Pizza Hut, Applebee's, Drug Emporium, Salem Chrysler Dealership, AJ Wright, the Dayton Jewish Federation, Pier One Imports and not to mention every other business that been in the city.

Yeah, the CSX Railroad Corporation closed the portion of railway went through Trotwood. The City of Dayton bought the remaining short line and once in a while a train would go through the area.
The Salem Mall (circa 1998). The mall was demolished in 2007 after all its lost all its stores.
The only big box stores still in the area include but not limited are JoAnn Fabrics Store, Evans Arena Dodge car dealership, Big Lots, Office Depot, Burlington Coat Factory, Home Depot and Lowes Home Improvement stores.

Sooner or later, these businesses will close or relocate.

The United Theological Seminary, the Greater Dayton RTA Northwest Transit Center, Greyhound, and the Hara Arena are the only things of interest left in the dying suburb.

The racial makeup of the city was 38.66% White, 58.34% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.43% from other races, and 1.98% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.82% of the population.

Since this a majority-minority (mostly Black) suburb, many White people are leaving the city.

This gives the racist right (conservatives or Republicans) a talking point about the status of cities being in "ruins" because of Democrats.

I hate to tell you this, but it's not a Democrat or Republican problem. It's an American problem!

The Dayton Daily News adds that Trotwood City Manager Michael Lucking conceded as much in an interview with Dayton Daily News reporter Kelli Wynn.

Target is the latest store to announce it will leave the area once anchored by the Salem Mall.
Trotwood lost its opportunity to grow when the corporate owners of The Landmark backed out of the development deal. It was supposed to be the revitalization of the dying suburb. The town center is indefinitely suspended.
“No city wants to lose a business within its community. It is disappointing,” he told Wynn when asked about Target’s closing. “As a community, we understand that our future is not retail oriented based upon the changing market place and how stores operate. We have to be proactive in terms of figuring out how we re-purpose those retail buildings.”

So if you're from the Dayton area, what's your take on this situation?

Could Trotwood regain its glory?

Will Dayton survive as a city?

Send us some feedback!

Here's a video from My Tour Of Poor Dayton series. It's back when I actually found interest in driving around with a camera.

Looking U.S. Up In Texas!

States are seeing an increase in population. The country's southern region saw rapid growth and the Midwest and Northeast seen some real decrease or stagnant growth.

The U.S. population for a time being has slowed down. The states such as Florida, Colorado, Arizona, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia gains population while Ohio, Illinois, West Virginia, Rhode Island, Pennsyslvania, Minnesota, and Michigan saw a decrease in population.
Houston population 4.3 million people.
That means that Texas will likely get three new congressional seats in the 2020 U.S. Census.

Florida is on track to surpass New York as the third most populated state.

Dallas
Ohio loses a seat and North Carolina gains a seat. Ohio the election bellweather is the state that most politicos visit during a presidential election. This state determines the outcome of American elections.

Ohio is the state that went to Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. The winner of Ohio managed to secure a second term with exception of George H.W. Bush.

The Los Angeles Times reports that population growth in Southern and Western states, led by Texas, California and Florida, accounted for more than 80% of new residents nationwide over the last three years, surpassing the Northeast and Midwest in the demographic contest that plays a key role in determining states' political clout.

San Antonio
Population estimates are eagerly watched by state officials because the figures determine the flow of money into many federal programs and the number of seats each state receives in the House of Representatives. That number gets readjusted each decade.

The new data reinforce a trend that has seen Southern states' growth outpace that of the Northeast and Midwest. Texas, which gained four seats in the last round of congressional reapportionment, lagged behind only North Dakota and the District of Columbia in the rate of population growth since the 2010 census.

California, with 38,332,521 residents, and Texas, with 26,448,193, remain the nation's most populous states.

New York narrowly maintained its third-place spot with 19,651,127 residents, compared with Florida's 19,552,860, as of July 1. But the Sunshine State will soon surpass New York because its population is growing about three times faster, according to the census estimates, which are based on data measuring births, deaths and migration.

Austin
As a percent of population, California's growth again outpaced the national average over the last year, rising 0.9%, or 332,643 new residents, compared with 0.7% nationwide.

But in raw numbers, Texas added the most residents, 387,397.

An improving state economy in the second half of 2013 may augur faster growth in California, but Texas still has an advantage because of its energy-based economy and a population that is trending younger.

Texas is "going to keep growing a cumulative advantage in redistricting, until the oil economy turns [down] again," said Dowell Myers, a demography expert and professor at USC's Price School of Public Policy. "But California's adding jobs more rapidly now than Texas. So probably next year I would bet that California's share of the growth is up a little bit more."

North Dakota is the nation's fastest-growing state, driven by a thriving oil and gas industry. North Dakota's population stood at 723,393 on July 1, according to the census data, a 3.1% increase from 2012. Since the 2010 census, North Dakota's population has grown 7.6%, far outpacing the national rate of 2.4%.
Fort Worth
Kevin Iverson, manager of the North Dakota Census Office, says the biggest population growth has been among 19- to 34-year-olds, primarily through migration.

"The economic winds have clearly favored North Dakota," Iverson said, attributing it mainly to the energy boom but also growth in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors. "The real question begins to become, to what extent can you continue to grow?"

Population in the District of Columbia also grew at a sustained clip, rising 2.1% from 2012 to 2013 to 646,449. Utah grew the next fastest, at a rate of 1.6%, followed by Colorado and Texas at 1.5% and Nevada at 1.3%.

West Virginia and Maine saw slight population declines in the last year. Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Vermont and Illinois posted the slowest population growth, all at or near a tenth of 1 percentage point.

The national population stood at 316,128,839 on July 1, an increase of 2.3 million. But the annual growth rate nationally continues to lag behind where it was in the mid-2000s before the economic downturn.

Sticks And Stones!

Oh look, that's racist! A bunch of sticks and stones.

Once again, we here at Journal de la Reyna believe in the freedom of speech. We believe its important to get a voice out there when it comes to the latest topics in America and across the world.

Again, I consider the internet troll as more of a gadfly! A gadfly continues to swarm blogs and comment sections. I keep swatting it away. If I had to put the swatter on it, maybe it'll go away!

Nah.

I am obviously bias towards conservatives right now! It's because of how they treat President Barack Obama, the middle class and the federal workers who were laid off because of their stubbornest.

You see how our conservative friends react to the hard hitting opinions I write about them. Like honey, they respond with the word vomit.

They come out of the woodwork saying all they want about how "We're this... and they're that!"

Who cares what they say.

I know that I don't have any problem with race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, political and economic standings. So I don't see why they are calling us "racist" or "misinformed" when we're watching the same news agitators. I don't see why they are saying that we're "race-baiters" or "extremists" when we just report stories about what's going on.

I at oftentimes sprinkle an eye-grabbing title to attract attention, though!

I don't often read this nonsense. I just shake my head in disgust and say it again.

You can't fix stupid.

So to those who wrote on the blog and left the word vomit. Here's your answer to all your concerns. Here's another helping of word vomit from an extremist. Get the bag, you might get sick to your stomach reading this regurgitation of ignorance.

Whomever wrote this should eats pork butt.

How does this come into the TM story, and I suppose it take a racist to know a racism since the author is a nut of his granddaddy with a snappy dill pickle
John Smith said...
First time at this site. Seems very racist. As for the story, from the video the woman went into a panic mode. I did not see any officer struck by her car. She did not drive through any barracade. Deadly force was totally unecessary.

"A very informative blog"? I rather say a very racist blog.

To the racist a**hole that wrote this...go in the woods and hang yourself! You should know how to do that very well. Continue to enjoy your miserable life punk!!
7:20 AM

To the five people who commented on Journal de la Reyna, your grammar is dogshit.

Six Reasons To Attract An Anonymous Commentator!

1) They seem to always be focused on one simple issue.

Conservatives are simple minded individuals. They show such disdain for President Barack Obama and the Black community.

There may be some of these "compassionate" conservatives reading this blog right now!

Drop the act. You're not fooling anyone.

Conservatism is dosed in the bigotry of someone's race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, economic and political standings.

Conservatives look at issues in the "black and white" prospective.

That's probably why this anonymous commentator is here. The anonymous commentator is focused on one issue: RACE!

You don't like being called racist. We understand it. The Republican Party isn't racist.

There's a lot of racists in the Republican Party though.

Who says the party that's 90% White and 10% everything else is racist?

The party leaders, those in the conservative junk food media and those pesky anonymous commentators and racial extremists are worked up over the first Black president.

Did you know that President Barack Obama loses 40% or more of the White vote because of some perceived bias against him?

2) They get worked up over an opinion.

Me and S. Baldwin been here for years blogging about issues. Some issues are controversial. Some are spiritual. Some may inspire you to think. Others may rile you up. That's perfectly fine.

We are here on Journal de la Reyna using our "freedom of speech" to talk about issues.

Some may not like that. That's fine.

We don't condone every anti-website that spends their times attacking someone.

We're not like that. Every story that I post comes with a wittiness and willingness to express an honest take on the current issues.

I don't see nothing wrong with discourse. Does it mean we have to read it?

3) Deleting comments always seems to agitate them.

Again, we don't have give anyone a forum to soapbox insults, racial slurs and random spamming.

We're not in the business of this back and forth with people who have no direct ties to us. We are not in the business to respond to a person who has to subject us with insults upon our character, this blog or the supporters here.

We reserve the right to remove comments here on Journal de la Reyna.

Again, we didn't ask you to read the blog. It was the choice of the anonymous user to respond to the blog. You can find other outlets that suit your needs. Why are you bothering us?

4) Never responding back to them drives them crazier.

Never feed the trolls.

Yeah it's the same word vomit. We don't have to read insults.

The best solution is to delete it and move on.

It must drive this anonymous user crazy to not see the word vomit on the comments page.

Should we require that all comments come from a person who is a registered user with Blogger or Google (or linked through Facebook or Twitter)?

5) No one is pointing a gun to the head telling the anonymous user to read this or any blog.

If you have a problem with the blog, that's your opinion. But as far as it goes, we're not going anywhere and as long as I'm still interested, there will be more posts on Journal de la Reyna.

6) Summary

The comments here come from a concerned troll. A concern troll is a false flag pseudonym created by a user whose actual point of view is opposed to the one that the user claims to hold. The concern troll posts in Web forums devoted to its declared point of view and attempts to sway the group's actions or opinions while claiming to share their goals, but with professed "concerns". The goal is to sow fear, uncertainty and doubt within the group.

Call me whatever you want, gadfly! You're not winning.

Get a clue, fool!

As far as I'm concerned, the only racist here is you!

Now please look in the mirror and yell at yourself. And please use your rope for other purposes other than telling us to hang ourselves.

Pest Control....

File:Female black fungus gnat.jpg
A gnat is an example of a common gadfly. It's a common pest. Just like the anonymous commentators on the internet.

Briefly, the internet troll continues to come from underneath the bandwidth bridge.

Again, I consider the internet troll as more of a gadfly! A gadfly that continues to swarm the pages of Journal de la Reyna, and I keep swatting it away. If I had to put the swatter on it, maybe it'll go away!

Nah.

Yet, it keeps on coming back for more. It's necessary to have a clean house. Pest seem to come in and make themselves home where they shouldn't.

The anonymous commentator continues on and on about how I'm this "racist fuck" and whatever else he's vomits onto the keyboard. Considering that this pest won't go away anytime soon, the next articles will be devote squarely to him.

You got to figure out the definition of what we're dealing with.

In Internet slang, a troll  is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional responseor of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

This pest here commenting is a concerned troll.

Call me whatever you want, gadfly, you're not winning.

Get a clue, fool!

We running this blog and we're entitled to our opinions here. So cry me a river of tears.

Armed Guards At The Screening Of The Butler!

The Butler: As Cecil Gaines serves eight presidents during his tenure as a butler at the White House, the civil rights movement, Vietnam, and other major events affect this man's life, family, and American societyIf you wanted armed security in a movie theater, I would of thought it would have been in the city of Aurora, Colorado.

Nah, it's in a suburban Washington, D.C. area movie theater. A predominately Black area in the state of Maryland.

And the controversy has even the good folks in the junk food media wondering....

Why did they have to have armed guards at the showing of Lee Daniels' The Butler?

Oh, that's the movie with media mogul Oprah Winfrey and actor Forest Whitaker. It's features Robin Williams, Mariah Carey, Vanessa Redgrave, Terrence Howard, Jane Fonda, Lenny Kravitz, Cuba Gooding, Jr. and rapper David Banner (born Lavell William Crump).

Mariah Carey, Jane Fonda, Lenny Kravitz and David Banner are entertainers and musical performers.

The movie showing at Regal Cinemas in Sliver Springs, Maryland was uncomfortable for some patrons.

They claimed that the armed police guards were checking the tickets twice and standing in the audience's way making sure things go right during the movie showing.

Again giving me the notion that the movie theater management were expecting riots (i.e. fights in the stands).

Many people took to the social networks to show anger towards this.

Wonder what the WHITE CONSERVATIVE EXTREMISTS are thinking about the armed guards at the Regal Movie Theater?

Here's some reactions to the movie theater's decision to use armed guards!

Saturday night at the movies: Tiffany Flowers (left) made a series of Tweets detailing her experience as she went to see The Butler
Tiffany Flowers.
Many people who reacted to this have called upon a boycott of Regal Movies for this.

Again, why would you want to boycott a company? You may hurt the people who work at the movie theater. Some are people of color that work at the theater.

The woman woman, Tiffany Flowers took to Twitter on Sunday to express her 'utter disgust' at the treatment of movie-goers.

It appeared to her that the police activity was confined to the showing of 'The Butler' at which the majority of the audience was black.

Through her Tweets she explained that the theater checked customers tickets twice before being met by a police officer who told them where to sit.

Security: Armed guards were present at the theater, not just in the lobby but in the auditorium as well
Regal Cinemas is under fire for having armed guards at the showing of The Butler.
But the police activity didn't end there. Ms. Flowers went on to add that armed guards faced the crowd whilst the film was being shown.

'The almost entirely black audience of 'The Butler' was subjected to watching the film while armed guards faced the audience,' she wrote. 'Why?'

Spanning more than 50 years of history and a series of presidents, The Butler spotlights the US civil rights struggle through the life and career of a White House servant.

Inspired by Eugene Allen, who held the post for 34 years, the film is already seen as a serious contender for the Oscars.

Keep it classy America.

Tavis Smiley: Pass Us The Kool-Aid, Obama! Your [Trayvon] Talk Too Late!

Tavis Smiley and Dr. Cornel West are Black liberal agitators who complain about President Barack Obama not doing enough for Black America. When the president does something, these two nut farmers criticize him. These guys are just as worse as the conservative agitators I've often mention.

Black liberal extremist can't be satisfied.

This has to be one of the reason why I can't stand Black liberal activists. They want more and more.

They can't settle for compromise.

They always figure that the president isn't doing enough for one group or doing too much for one group.

There are some liberal extremists who can't be satisfied with the way the president does his job.

They're just as bad as the conservative agitators and White extremists.

On the positive note, SiriusXM has relaunched its networks. The relaunch includes the channels I normally listen to in my drive time. The channel SiriusXM LEFT will now be called SiriusXM Progress and SiriusXM The Power will be called SiriusXM Urban View.

Through Public Radio International and featured on WCPT AM, the nation's most popular progressive talk radio network comes Tavis Smiley. Smiley, who is a host on PBS program on late nights also goes to the radio to talk about the state of Black America. He also host a second show with Dr. Cornel West, professor from Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York.

Tom Joyner dropped Smiley for Roland Martin after he kept complaining to the audience that Barack Obama in a theme that described him as a "HOUSE NIGGER!"

Anyways, on Obama News featured Meet The Press, David Gregory gets Smiley, Congresswoman Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio), and Michael Steele debate this controversy.

Smiley goes to the nut farm with this comment.

[I think that Obama was] pushed to the podium and these comments were as "weak as pre-sweetened Kool Aid."

"I appreciate and applaud the fact that the president did finally show up," Smiley said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

"[But however], this town has been spinning a story that's not altogether true. He did not walk to the podium for an impromptu address to the nation. He was pushed to that podium. A week of protest outside the White House, pressure building on him inside the White House pushed him to that podium. So I'm glad he finally arrived.

"But when he left the podium, he still had not answered the most important question, that Keynesian question, where do we go from here?"

"That question this morning remains unanswered, at least from the perspective of the president. And the bottom line is this is not Libya, this is America."On the Trayvon Martin situation, I think the president is leading from behind".

Tavis Smiley is an American talk show host, author, liberal political commentator, entrepreneur, advocate and philanthropist.

Smiley was born in Gulfport, Mississippi, and grew up in Bunker Hill, Indiana. After attending Indiana University, he worked during the late 1980s as an aide to Tom Bradley, the mayor of Los Angeles. Smiley became a radio commentator in 1991, and starting in 1996, he hosted the talk show BET Talk (later renamed BET Tonight) on BET.

Controversially, after Smiley sold an exclusive interview of Sara Jane Olson to ABC News in 2001, BET declined to renew Smiley's contract that year. Smiley then began hosting The Tavis Smiley Show on NPR from 2002 to 2004 and currently hosts Tavis Smiley on PBS on the weekdays and "The Tavis Smiley Show" from PRI. Starting in 2010 Smiley and Dr. Cornel West have joined forces for their own radio talk show, Smiley & West. They were featured together interviewing musician Bill Withers in the 2009 documentary film Still Bill.

He is the new host of "Tavis Talks" on BlogTalkRadio's Tavis Smiley Network.

In 2008, Tavis Smiley announced that he would resign in June 2008 as a commentator on the Tom Joyner Morning Show. He cited fatigue and a busy schedule in a personal call to Joyner. However, Joyner, referring to several commentaries in which Smiley was critical of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, indicated otherwise on his program, stating: "The real reason is that he can't take the hate he's been getting regarding the Barack issue—hate from the black people that he loves so much."

Prior to the public controversy and being elected President, Obama had been on Smiley's PBS show six times.

In 2012, Smiley participated in a "Poverty Tour" with professor Cornel West in promoting their book The Rich and the Rest of Us: A Poverty Manifesto.

The stated aim of the tour was to highlight the plight of the impoverished population of the United States prior to the 2012 Presidential Election, whose candidates Smiley and West stated had ignored the plight of the poor.

GOP Sundays often have a Republican on there. Usually it's a requirement that Senator John McCain (R-Arizona), Senator Lindsay Graham (R-South Carolina), Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), Congressman Mike Rogers (R-Michigan), Congressman Darrell Issa (R-California) and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota) be on GOP Sundays.

There's a 3:1 ratio when it comes to Republicans being featured on GOP Sundays.

For some reason the president's talk about being racially profiled became the talk of the town.

The Day That Detroit Died!

Officially, America's 18th largest city is bankrupt. A rejoicing from the racial extremists and conservative agitators in the junk food media.

The minority-majority city of Detroit, Michigan has officially went bankrupt.

The City of Detroit filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy on July 18, 2013.

It is the largest municipal bankruptcy in the history of the nation, passing Stockton, CA.

Detroit's debt is estimated to be $18-$20 Billion. Detroit’s population has declined from 1.8 million in 1950 to 700,000 people today. It is home to thousands of unoccupied buildings, vacant lots and unlit streets.

The core economic center of manufacturing is now officially trying to save grace amiss the ongoing financial woes that state and federal lawmakers put upon the city.

Gov. Rick Snyder’s office was making plans this afternoon to hold a 10 a.m. Friday morning news conference at the Maccabees Building, 5057 Woodward in Midtown, according to his office. It’s the same location where the governor declared a financial emergency for Detroit on March 1.

Snyder authorized Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr to file bankruptcy under a law the Legislature passed in December that replaced the previous emergency manager law voted repealed last November.

The bankruptcy filing came minutes before Ingham County Circuit Judge Rosemarie Aquilina was set to hold an emergency hearing Thursday afternoon on a request for a temporary restraining order blocking Snyder from authorizing a bankruptcy filing.

“It was my intention to grant you your request completely,” Aquilina told lawyers for Detroit’s pension boards.

The judge did grant temporary restraining orders against Snyder and Orr taking further action in the bankruptcy proceedings.

Ronald King, an attorney representing the police/fire and general retirement pension systems, said he may file a motion Friday in the case seeking to require Orr, an officer of the state, to withdraw the bankruptcy filing.

After the hearing, King expressed frustration with the governor’s office after filing a motion for a temporary restraining order at 3:37 p.m. and giving Snyder’s attorney extra time to get to the downtown Lansing courthouse.

The bankruptcy case was filed at 4:06 p.m. and Aquilina convened the emergency hearing at 4:11 p.m.

“This was a race to the courthouse this afternoon and yet another example of (the Snyder administration) completely usurping the will of the people, ignoring the referendum in the fall and then flat-out racing to file bankruptcy protection so you can get out from the protection of (pensions),” King told reporters.

Aquilina was preparing to hear arguments Monday from retirees seeking to stop the bankruptcy filing, which produced an automatic stay of all pending litigation and capped a month of intense talks between Orr’s team and creditors, which largely have failed to restructure as much as $20 billion in debt and long-term liabilities.

Orr’s spokesman, Bill Nowling, could not be reached for comment. And state officials contacted by The News on Thursday declined to discuss the matter, though Snyder spokesman Jeff Holyfield confirmed the governor authorized the filing.

The Chapter 9 filing could take years, experts say, despite hopes by the governor and Orr that the case can be wrapped up in a year. A bankruptcy judge could trump the state constitution by slashing retiree pensions, ripping up contracts and paying creditors roughly a dime on the dollar for unsecured claims worth $11.45 billion.

During a month of negotiations, Orr has reached a settlement with only two creditors: Bank of America Corp. and UBS AG. They have agreed to accept 75 cents on the dollar for approximately $340 million in swaps liabilities, according to a source familiar with the deal.

The bankruptcy plan was expected to closely follow Orr’s restructuring proposal that was unveiled to creditors on June 14 — a proposal that drew criticism from some creditors who said the cuts were too deep and did not include the sale of city assets, including Belle Isle and a Detroit Institute of Arts collection worth billions. He proposed paying most of the money owed to secured creditors while pension funds, unions and unsecured bondholders would receive, in some cases, 10 cents on the dollar.

The filing is expected to trigger a costly, long and precedent-setting battle by creditors and Detroit’s bankruptcy case could become a template for the treatment of pensions in the largely uncharted world of municipal bankruptcies.

Unsecured creditors could take the biggest hit in bankruptcy court. Orr wants them to share a $2 billion payout on approximately $11.5 billion worth of debt, which includes an estimated $9.2 billion in health and pension benefits and $530 million in general-obligation bonds.

Instead of paying creditors in full, Orr would use $1.25 billion over the next decade to buy police cars and fire trucks, replace broken street lights, tear down burned-out homes, fight blight and improve city services.

Orr wants to stabilize the city, woo new residents, provide essential city services for Detroiters, lower property taxes and transfer costly departments, including the water department, to an outside group.

Once the nation’s fourth largest city, Detroit was hailed as an industrial hub with nearly 2 million people. Today, after a half-century of residential flight, high unemployment, a significant reduction in state funding, plummeting income and property taxes, corruption and chronic mismanagement, the bankruptcy filing solidifies the city's standing as a model of urban decline.

The filing serves as a grim reminder of the bankruptcies that hit the auto industry four years ago. Unlike the cases of General Motors and Chrysler in 2009, the White House offered no financial help.

Snyder’s staff is making plans to explain the bankruptcy decision during appearances on Sunday morning talks shows, including “Face the Nation” and “Meet the Press,” according to one source.

The case was expected to be assigned by Alice Batchelder, chief judge of the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which spans Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee. Any judge in the four-state region could be assigned the case, though Batchelder will weigh potential political concerns and decide who has the time and capability to handle a complex, large case.

Some legal experts predict the case would be assigned to a judge from outside the city to avoid any potential conflicts of interest.

Okay, let the blame game begin. Who is the conservative junk food media going to blame for Detroit?

Guess one name.

Hint: The country's first Black president.

Since it's been declining in population since Richard Nixon, I guess it's not him at fault.

Surely Republicans don't get blamed for economic turmoils, right?

Heck January 2005 to January 2009 were the some of the best times of our lives in America. Heck, no recession, no massive hurricane, wars were minor things on television. Who could of thought that a town like Detroit would be suffering during those times?

Not that!

Ohio Lawmakers Want To Pull The Camera Trap!

The Redflex traffic cameras may get banned by Ohio legislators. This one is located in Toledo, Ohio. This city and many others in the state have numerous cameras in areas located at high traffic intersections.

My community and neighboring areas advocate red light/speed cameras. These devices are placed at localities where traffic is at its peak. Many Americans who pass drive through the intersections are subject to stop at the red light. The camera triggers if the vehicle drive pass a sensor installed on the road.

It triggers a photo of the vehicle. It calculates the speed of the vehicle and the driver.

My community of Dayton, Ohio and its suburbs Trotwood and West Carrollton have red light and speed cameras. They impose a hefty fine for those run through the cameras.

Other communities in the metro area include Springfield, Middletown, Hamilton, and Elmwood Place.

Big cities such as Cleveland, Toledo and Columbus have red light and speed cameras as well.

Republican and Democratic state lawmakers are putting a halt to the traffic cameras. They've cleared a bill through the state house and it's going to the state senate. The bill if signed into law will end the Redflex contracts with city governments and advocate traffic cameras to be around school zones and special event sites.
The village of Elmwood Place was one of the communities that had traffic cameras. That camera pulled in over $1.8 million in traffic citations. Elmwood Place is located in Hamilton County, near Cincinnati.
The local police of jurisdictions with traffic cameras disagree with the bill and hope the governor will consider their concerns.

The Toledo Blade reports that in a 61-32 vote pitting Big Brother against safety concerns, the Ohio House on Wednesday voted to permanently disconnect red-light cameras across the state and all but ban the use of cameras to catch speeders.

The sole exception would be mobile speed cameras to enforce 20-mph school zones during restricted hours, but even then, the cameras would have to come with police backup.

Those holding civil citations they’ve received by mail because of those cameras shouldn’t think about throwing them away just yet. The Senate will leave for the summer later this week without taking up House Bill 69, putting the debate on hold until autumn at the earliest.

Driving much of the criticism is the speed-camera program run by Elmwood Place, a small village near Cincinnati. The program was decried by a Hamilton County judge as a “scam that the motorists can’t win.”

“Six thousand tickets in 30 days at $105 … with 40 percent of the revenue going to an outside company that is not located in the state of Ohio…,” Rep. Alicia Reece (D., Cincinnati) said. She represents Elmwood Place and a portion of Cincinnati, which rejected the cameras at the polls.
Speed cameras are being placed in communities to catch speeders on major roads. This one is located in Dayton, Ohio.
“It has become a money grab,” she said.

Rep. Rex Damschroder (R., Fremont), chairman of the House Transportation, Public Safety, and Homeland Security Committee, urged his colleagues not to cast what he characterized as a vote against public safety and for local tax increases.

“These lawbreakers are paying, and they’re paying big bucks for breaking the law,” he said. “The city of Toledo, Mayor [Mike] Bell came in and told how important this is to the city of Toledo — not just for public safety.

“They make about $4 million a year,” he said. “If we vote for this bill, we are going to be voting for tax increases for Toledo, because somehow their public safety department is going to be $4 million short. Somehow Toledo is going to have to make that up. And every town in Ohio that has been using this device to control speed is going to make up those deficits.”

The bill was sponsored by Reps. Ron Maag (R., Lebanon) and Dale Mallory (D., Cincinnati), and the vote crossed party lines. Of the northwest Ohio delegation, Reps. Michael Ashford (D., Toledo), Lynn Wachtmann (R., Napoleon), Robert Sprague (R., Findlay), Tony Burkley (R., Payne), and Jeff McClain (R., Upper Sandusky) supported the bill.

Joining Mr. Damschroder in opposition were Reps. Teresa Fedor (D., Toledo), Mike Sheehy (D., Oregon), Barbara Sears (R., Monclova Township), Tim Brown (R., Bowling Green), and Chris Redfern (D., Catawba Island).

Attempts to find some middle ground, standards that the roughly 15 municipalities with camera programs must follow, have come up empty so far.

Most of Ohio’s largest cities have camera programs. Toledo took in nearly $3 million in fines in 2012 and expects $4.2 million this year. Northwood, in Wood County, recently allowed its contract with its camera operator to expire, so that program has gone dark.

In Toledo, citations cost violators $120, of which $90.25 belongs to the city. Toledo last year went from collecting $65 on the $120 fine to collecting the greater amount.

Conservatives: [Republicans] Drop The Kumbaya Act!

File:Phyllis-schlafly-2007-03 cc.jpg
The crazy old lady warns Republicans to drop the act of trying to win Blacks and Hispanics.

You could be a member of the Republican Party if your only goal in life is to keep Blacks and Hispanics away from the polls. You would throw your crap on the wall claiming that Blacks support President Barack Obama because of race, and the Hispanics are illegal immigrants. You concluded that Blacks and Hispanics want to make babies so they could get "gubmint" entitlements.

In other words, Republicans and their conservative allies believe that the White race is declining because of these "parasites" taking out of the taxpayer's pockets and that Nigger Obama is allowing this.

The Republicans don't want Black and Hispanic women to have abortions.

The Republicans don't want Black and Hispanic families to get food stamps and welfare.

The Republicans don't like it that Blacks and Hispanics vote on race. Yet, perennial loser Mitt Romney had a strong turnout of White voters.

The Republicans want to pass legislation that require voters to have a state issued identification to prevent voter fraud in a minority precinct.

The Republicans don't want Blacks, Hispanics, and Muslims to own firearms. Some Republicans believe that violence in America is caused by the entertainment industry (i.e. rap music, video games and movies).

Republicans want to attack President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Attorney General Eric Holder, and UN Secretary Susan Rice. They attack the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by claiming that he supported the policies of the modern day Republican Party.

The Republicans advocate racism through their associates. These individuals King Hippo, Crazy JonesThat Guy Who Helped Obama Win, The Guy Who Throws Shit On The Wall, The Palin Da Ass, The Turd Flipper, Bill-O, and Chalk E Becker are part the junk food media. These paid agitators openly advocate violence and hatred of the Black and Hispanic communities.

Our friends over at Addicting Info found a nice little article about that crazy old lady who founded the Eagle Forum. She issued a warning to Republicans. The crazy old lady wants Republicans to drop any attempts to pass immigration reform.

Her words: The Hispanics who come in like this are going to vote Democrat. There isn't the slightest bit of evidence that they are going to vote Republican. The people the Republicans should reach out to are the white votes — the white voters who didn't vote in the last election. There are millions of them. I think when you have an establishment-run nomination system, they give us a series of losers, which they've given us with Dole, McCain, and Romney and they give us people who don’t connect with the grassroots.

So if you're looking at this comment, you notice that the crazy old lady is blaming the three former Republican nominees for being too easy on winning the rainbow instead of the White vote.

If she really want to have a honest discussion to why these three candidates lost.

Richard Nixon was the Vice President. He lost the U.S. Presidential Election the first time. He went on to win the presidency in two election victories. He ended up resigning at the peak of a scandal.

George H.W. Bush lost to Ronald Reagan in the Republican nomination. He would later become the Vice President of the United States. Bush would later lose to Bill Clinton.

Perennial loser Bob Dole lost as a vice presidential candidate. He lost to George H.W. Bush in the Republican nomination. Dole would eventually lose to incumbent president Bill Clinton.

Perennial loser John McCain lost the Republican nomination to George W. Bush. He lost to Barack Obama in a landslide election.

Perennial loser Mitt Romney lost to John McCain in the Republican nomination. He lost to incumbent president Barack Obama.

So in other words, this crazy old lady wants to ignore the fastest minority group in the nation. Forget Hispanics, Republicans only need white voters.

This is your Republican Party people. This stuff is why they're losing the elections. It's fossils like this crazy old woman who keep the Republican Party the condescending, the sexist, the homphobic, the Islamophobic, the racist, and down right stupid people most American liberals paint them out to be.

Rand Paul: You [Black Folks] Need "Freedom!"

Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) speaks to Howard University students.

The kookspiracy comes to the historically Black college. Of course, the talk of this nut job running for president is growing and I guess he's reached out to "us Black folk" about him and his daddy's legacy of "doing nothing" but still gaining this amount of unprecedented attention.

Conservatives and the race card: It's only played when you're on the losing side of a debate.

The Republican Party are atoned to the race card. You just like to place it in Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and President Barack Obama's back pocket to say "oh it's those niggers who play the race card, not us!"

United States senator from Kentucky, the Tea Party darling, Rand Paul is the Republican Party goes Howard University to preach this crap about how Republicans brought "us Black folk" to freedom and the Democrats continue to leave "us Black folk" in the poorhouse.

The Politico reports that Senator Paul brought his outreach campaign to Howard University on Wednesday, giving skeptical students a lesson in the positive history of the Republican Party and the African-American community.

At one of the nation’s oldest black schools, Paul insisted under questioning that he “has never wavered” in his support of the 1964 Civil Rights Act — an issue that dogged his 2010 Senate campaign after he questioned the act in a televised interview.

Paul makes the claim that the president and his Democratic allies failed the Black community.

Paul went on to then describe the GOP’s rich Civil-War era history with the emancipation of slaves, and assailed the Southern Democrats of the era for discrimination. “How did we lose the support of an entire race?” he asked “How did we lose that vote?”

Paul disputed the suggestion that Republicans sanctioned voter suppression in states where GOP legislatures passed voter ID laws. One student accused the measures of targeting the poor, seniors and minority voters.

“I think if you liken using a driver’s license to a literacy test you demean the horror of what happened in the 40s and 50s. It was horrific. No one is in favor of that,” Paul said. “But showing your driver’s license to have an honest election is not unreasonable.”

He did stumble at one point when he couldn’t recall the name of the first African American elected to the Senate, and was prompted by students shouting “Edward Brooke.” At another point he asked whether they knew that the founders of the NAACP were Republicans.

Groans could be head and one student shouted ,“We know our history!”

I would love to say this in regards to the Paulnuts out there: No chance in hell will America elect a politico who believes monsters hide under the bed!

There may be some here who troll the internet for all things Rand and Ron Paul.  You might be one of these supporters cult followers of this kookspiracy Senator Rand Paul.

Rand Paul (and his daddy) are establishment politicos whose "KOOKY" ideas appeal to the broad coalition cult following of pot smokers, anti-government-like disengaged conservatives and libertarians who feel like this guy could be the next "god". These are the individuals who troll polling sites and internet forums writing, blogging, debating 24/7 over issues they've created out of the propaganda being spewed by the likes of Becknerd and Crazy Jones.

These type of Republicans hate last year's miserable crop of presidential candidates. They've gritted their teeth as they watched perennial loser Mitt Romney get his ass handed to him.

Yeah, there are liberal who fall victim to the bullshit that Paul says. I don't see many but there are some liberals who think he's all about ending the wars, stopping drones from flying over the United States and legalizing the weed.

But when you look into the Paul philosophy, you see that he would rather meddle in your bedroom, your vagina or in the case your neighborhood with intrusive policies and proposals. Paul would rather pass legislation that could affect progress. Repealing Wall Street Reform and Obamacare are themes that drive Paul and the Republicans.

Did you know that the Pauls have friends that are anti-Semitics?

Sure enough there's plenty of anti-Israeli agitators who think that country is the reason for the global unrest in the world.

There are some deficit hawks who think that United States is acting like a "god" and the powers that be will be its undoing. The deficit hawks want to cut spending only in areas that doesn't affect them. Say for example, Paul comes from Kentucky and it's major military bases and coal mining industry could be affected by the sequester. So instead of cutting into his constituents jobs, he'll send his proposals to hurt another state or region.

Some claim that ending foreign aid to lower nations and Israel is the perfect solution (even though these nations aid the United States in these goddamn wars).

There's plenty of extremists who think anyone who questions the motives of Paul are against the U.S. Constitution. Of course, these are the ones who appear on tax revolters, survivalist, conspiracy theorist and White Supremacists websites.

Of course if you criticize this guy or his daddy, you'll be baited into a trivial debate over how these individuals "read the Constitution all the ways" and you're the ones who "misinformed" about the issues.

You really need to understand this!

Ron Paul has no accomplishments under his nearly 35 years in Congress.

Rand Paul for nearly two years hasn't gotten one bill he's sponsored passed in the U.S. Senate.

The only thing a cult follower will tell you is that Rand Paul filibustered a nominee for over 13 hours.

The nominee was confirmed the next day.

Ron Paul had only one freaking bill was passed by Congress under his sponsorship.

Rand Paul may be the rising face of the Republican Party. But if he's getting endorsements from idiots like Sarah Palin, he's doomed for political defeat if he should run for president.

No real person would support a fringe candidate who based his legacy on a cult of ignorance.

Just because a few "weed" smoking celebrities (Barry Manilow, Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson) had once endorse Ron and Rand Paul's policies, doesn't mean they've voted for him. So if these people spoke out for the Rand Paul, it would damage their credibility as an entertainer.

It's likely they'll support candidates who represent their views. So I guess that they voted for President Barack Obama over perennial candidate Mitt Romney any fucking way.

For your information, the Democratic Party nominated and American people elected Barack Obama, the first Black president. The president represents the onset of a changing demographic. In 40 years, the nation will get a little browner and the Republican Party has little chance of getting people of color to join their ranks.

Followers of the cult will get nowhere!

What on earth thinks you got the notion that "he's winning" every freaking time?

The infamous interview with liberal agitator Rachel Maddow. Rand Paul, then candidate for senate. Since this incident, Paul had went solely to Fox News for his interview.

Ohio City Denies Public Transit To Area Residents!

Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority and local riders demand bus service to Beavercreek, a nearby suburb. The city refuses to allow bus service to Dayton area malls.

I reside in the Rust Belt city of Dayton, Ohio. The city is seeing a gradual decrease in its population due to the loss of manufacturing, white flight and urban sprawl. The Midwestern city is caught between Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Columbus, three cities that has most of the area's major attractions. Dayton's basically surviving on the military's continuation of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the health care industry.

Beavercreek, Ohio is a city in Greene, County that's approximately 6 miles from Dayton, Ohio. The city is one of suburbs that has an issue with the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority. The RTA has a bus line that goes to Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio and is at least 2 miles away from the Mall of Fairfield Commons. Many riders want access to the Mall at Fairfield Commons and The Greene, an outdoor shopping mall.

Beavercreek continues to deny the RTA the access to their city.

The Department of Transportation and Justice are looking into complaints made by local riders against the city.

The residents of Beavercreek are pretty conservative. The area appears to favor Republicans over Democrats in the last elections. It was the hometown of former Ohio Congressman Steve Austria, the three term Republican who resigned from office in 2013.

The Republicans in the state house once again have the power of congressional districts and thanks to the Tea Party and fear-mongering from those in the conservative agitating media, Republicans have stronger advantages in state legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives.
The Greene is an outdoor mall located in the Dayton suburb of Beavercreek, Ohio.
Current area Congressman Mike Turner (R-Ohio) and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) represent the Miami Valley, a mixture of communities centered around Dayton.

Turner was the former mayor of Dayton. He became a U.S. Representative after conservative Democrat Tony Hall resigned in protest after Republicans gerrymandered his district away from stronger Democratic regions and put his district in a competitive region. Turner represents Dayton and recently areas absorbed by the former congressman Steve Austria.

Boehner, a former lawyer and lobbyist has been in Congress since former Republican congressman Buzz Luken, Jr. resigned in shame after a sex scandal. Boehner dreamed of being a big player in the Republican Party. He was part of the major leadership in the Republican Party.

When the Democrats took back the House of Representatives briefly, Boehner was chosen to be the Minority Leader. After the 2010 U.S. midterm elections in which Republicans took the House of Representatives and state governorships, Boehner became the current House Speaker replacing Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-California), the first woman to ever hold that post. Boehner represents West Chester, Troy, and now parts of Springfield, Ohio.

Boehner is considered a joke among the politicos in Washington. He's taunted for being too emotional and his often glowing tans. But his supporters state that he's a great leader and handles a crisis effectively.

Well here a crisis that our local congressmen failed at solving.

Equal rights for those who travel by public transit.

The Greene County Transit Authority and Greater Dayton Transit Authority have often clashed with Beavercreek city leaders over installing bus stops near the Mall at Fairfield Commons, The Greene, the new Soin Hospital and the Ervin J. Nutter Center, an indoor entertainment facility.

Beavercreek refuses because of perceptions of violent crime and a rise in theft around the mall.

They have major concerns about loitering by riders and those who may solicit for money near stops.

A civil rights group in Ohio say otherwise. The group believes that due to the local leaders and the extremely conservative views of most residents in the city, they feel that race and class perceive a bias in their decisions.
The outdoor sign for The Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek, Ohio.
The civil rights group have asked for action to matter by contacting the Department of Transportation secretary Ray LaHood and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to solve this matter.

The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (previously known as the Miami Valley RTA) serves the metro Dayton, Ohio area. The RTA has over 30 routes that serve most of Montgomery County (Dayton being its county seat) and portions of Greene County. The city of Dayton is one of the last cities to have overhead trolley buses.

The RTA doesn't provide bus serve to nearby suburb Fairborn, the Dayton International Airport, The Mall At Fairfield Commons or areas that connect to other areas within a 25 mile radius.

The RTA only travel through Fairborn and Beavercreek for access to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Wright State University.

Dayton is the smallest city that has overhead trolley service. Other cities include Seattle, San Francisco, Boston and Philadelphia have trolley service.

Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle and San Francisco are cities with populations that reach over 300,000. The city of Dayton most recent population is 141,000 as of 2010.

The city of Dayton still have issues with race. Dayton's population declined rapidly after the manufacturing bust by General Motors, and government facilities closing up in the city. The city was left with a large presence of boarded homes and abandoned businesses. Local shopping centers are bare and major retailers are moving further and further from the city. Most suburban shopping centers felt the bust as well. The two shopping complexes the Town & Country Shopping Center that's located in Kettering and the Dayton Mall are the only shopping areas with bus services. They both express concern about the public transportation.

They were concerned that fights, theft and panhandling would plague the malls. They concluded that the Salem Mall in Trotwood went out of business due to public transportation. The Salem Mall was the first Dayton mall. The mall was demolished years ago after many of its shops closed up! The residents of Trotwood blamed the bus for allowing criminals ruin a mall and the region.

The RTA have tried to calm the bad publicity. They've opened up transit centers that provide connecting services from Dayton to many area suburbs. They've partnered up with the Dayton Police and the county sheriff to provide adequate security for all RTA properties and the safety of all riders.

Dayton is bounded by the Great Miami River which separates the city from east to west.

Interstate 75 a major north-south highway passes through Dayton. It begins from the U.S.- Canada border to near Miami, Florida.

Dayton is an urban rust city. Manufacturing dried up! White flight left the city with a nearly minority-majority population. The city is caught between major cities within a few hours drive. Most of the major attractions aren't near the city, they're either in the suburbs or the somewhere else.

Dayton has a long way to go in order to solve its racial issues! Hopefully it will for the better!
