Black Lightning!

Black Lightning joins the Arrowverse.
I just finished watching the series premiere of DC's Black Lightning on The CW and I was amazed. I was like, "Wow, this show is.....Damn, I think they would do something like that!"

This show amazed me.

It features Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce, a principal at Garfield High school who reluctantly comes out of retirement as the Black Lightning to stop gang violence from influencing his daughters. He is a metahuman who possesses the power of lightning and electricity.

China Anne McClain plays Jennifer Pierce, the rebellious daughter who would become Lightning. She is a metahuman like her father. She will have a prominent role in the series. She is athletic, smart and has a wild streak.

Nafessa Williams plays Anissa Pierce, the oldest daughter who is wise and savvy. She is trying to keep Jennifer out of trouble. She teaches part time at Garfield and is studying a local medical school. She will become Thunder, a metahuman who possesses powers of density manipulation.

Marvin "Krondon" Jones III will play Tobias Whale, a ruthless gangster who is the arch enemy of Black Lightning. He is He leader of a criminal gang called The 100.

Christine Adams will play Lynn Pierce, the ex-wife of Jefferson. She is concerned that Jefferson's alter ego could become too powerful and dangerous.

Damon Tipton will play William Henderson. He is a veteran detective who becomes an unlikely ally to Black Lightening.

James Remar will play Peter Gambi, the only person who Jefferson can trust. He is the creator of the Black Lightning suit.

Black Lightning will have five episodes for the season and it will likely be greenlight for a second season. On Tuesdays, iZombie will return for its next season.
Cress Williams, Christine Adams, China Anne McClain and Nafessa Williams starring in CW's Black Lightning. The series features a Black ensemble cast.
There is a hint that a crossover could occur with the DC Heroes.

Rotten Tomatoes has rated the show 100% fresh. So I know I will be using my DVR to record this show. Trust me, I'm a fan.

There are guest appearances from Roland Martin, Jill Scott and former Ohio state senator/activist Nina Turner.

The show was created by Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim. It is executive produced by Akil and Greg Berlanti. Former executive producer Andy Kreisberg was fired out the cannon after allegations of sexual abuse.

Mara Brock Anil is known for the UPN/CW series Girlfriends, CW/BET series The Game and Being Mary Jane. She also was a writer for The Jamie Foxx Show, Moesha, Cougar Town and South Central.

Greg Berlanti is responsible for the DC Block (Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl). He also executive produces Riverdale, CW Seed's Vixen and NBC's Blindspot.

Other shows with minority cast include: Empire, Star, Black-ish, Fresh Off The Boat, This is Us, Superior Donuts, Ghosted, S.W.A.T., Hawaii Five-0, Superstore, Scandal, Grey's Anatomy and How To Get Away With Murder.
