Ohio Mom In The Iron College Loses A Relative!

County lockup picture of victim in Ohio murder.

I've talked about the three former friends that I've associated with back some time ago. One in particular is this man named Charles Barrett. He was my best friend for over ten years. Somehow we saw things differently in the later years, so we move on.

I keep a small circle of friends for a reason. I don't trust that many and those who have associated with me in the past have taken too much gratuity. I am at the point of just living the reminder of my days as a pariah.

Not saying that I will associate with friends or family, but I prefer people who can be reliable. Not users and losers. This young man and about six others I've known are the perfect example of why it's best to keep your distance.

They need me more than I need them.

Anyway, in Dayton, Ohio, a woman named Michelle Mooty was sentenced to 15 years in the iron college for being an negligent mother. Her former boyfriend (and father of her child) Joe Watson, murder her son Levi Barrett.

Levi is the son of Charles Barrett. He had two children with Michelle Mooty and one from another woman.

Her family is probably huge and today I am guessing that another member of the Mooty family paid the price.

I've seen the victim on occasions by the highway overpass always soliciting for money and food. He was a perennial resident in the county lock up for drug and panhandling charges. It was probably only but two weeks ago, I've seen this guy around the area.

Daniel Mooty, 51 years old was screaming for help in a Dayton neighborhood saying that someone is out to get him. He was yelling so loud a woman was awaken to the noise. So she dials 9-1-1 and the police were quickly dispatched there.
Curtis Gray, the accused murderer.
Mooty was just released from county lockup for drug and soliciting charges. Known to have a spontaneous outburst in front of business, I guess he must have pissed off the accused murderer.

A young man who had a relatively low criminal history now may face life in the iron college for the death of the man.

The Dayton Daily News reports that the homeless man was stabbed to death behind a vacant home in Dayton’s Twin Towers neighborhood Thursday morning and police said they don’t yet know what the motive behind the crime was.

Curtis Gray, 27, was arrested at the scene on Quitman Street moments after officers responded to a 911 call about a man screaming for help.

Dayton Police Sgt. Richard Blommel said the first officers on the scene at about 1 a.m. saw Gray standing over the body of Daniel E. Mooty and chased him a short distance before taking him into custody.

Gray reportedly dropped a knife, which was collected as evidence.

“We haven’t determined any motive and he’s not talking to us,” Blommel said of their interrogation of Gray.

Gray, of Dayton, is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of murder. Prosecutors had not approved official charges against him as of Thursday evening.

Neighbors reported seeing one man chasing another then one woman heard shouting.

“I didn’t really see anything. I could hear a gentleman screaming,” said Christy Collins. “He kept screaming, ‘somebody help me, call the police, he’s killing me’.” She reported that the man’s screams stopped before police arrived.

Blommel said some of the other houses on the block are vacant and Collins was the only person who called 911.

When officers arrived Mooty, 51, was deceased. He suffered multiple stab wounds.

Gray has previously been booked into the Montgomery County Jail on traffic offenses, according to court records, but Blommel said he didn’t know of any violent history. According to a police report he is employed at Thai 9 restaurant.

Mooty, who police confirmed was currently homeless, had felony convictions for breaking and entering, forgery and drug possession dating back to 1999.

Blommel said detectives have not determined how or if the two men knew each other prior to Thursday’s incident.

Of course, we don't know what happened until the local press confirms they had some type of issue.

Was the incident sparked by an altercation (sparked by words)? Did the victim know his attacker? Was there a relationship between the two?

We won't know until they determine that the suspect confirms his actions.

Anyways we here at Journal de la Reyna send our condolences to the family of Daniel Mooty and of course the family of Levi Barrett.

At least some measure of justice will be served--the killer has received a life sentence (though with parole in 15 years).
