Don Imus Hateful Remarks

Right-wing talk show host Don Imus is embarrassed by his own racist/sexist remarks on the Rutgers Basketball team. Here's the story. However, his apology came too insufficent and not sincere in my opinion. Last week, he compared Rutgers team to the Tennessee Team and called Rutgers team in racially charged terms. He felt free to say such things because he has no respect for people different from himself.

Rev. Al Sharpton and the organization of Black Journalists are still calling for his resignation. After all, Mr. Imus has a track record of bashing Blacks and women on his radio/TV show. It's time for him to retire.

USA Today article on Imus
Critics Demand Imus to Be Fired

Blogger Ann has a well-written editorial on the Imus and societal stereotyping of Black women in America. Mr. Imus is part of the problem. He's in the long line of nonblacks who say or write hateful sterotypes and who insult Black women and got away with it because of racialized sexism that deems Black women as the least worthy of all Americans. People like Steve Sailer, Eminem, Rod Dreher who wrote a mean-spirited article on Aaliyah, Rush Limbaugh, David Yeagley, rappers, Hollywood, Madison Avenue, politicians in general who use race as a way to consolidate white supremacy, VDARE, George Will, the whole media conglomorate, Howard Stern, among many others.

It's high time to hold the organizations and people accountable for the racist/sexist devaluation of Black women.

Stephanie, great post!

Yes, Imus is fired. But, the question we all have to ask ourselves:

"Now what happens? Do we let this effort, as much of a precedent as it is, just be the stopping point for us all? Do we let the momentum start to lose steam instead of surging forward to keep this hypocrisy in the public's eye, so as to tear down the racist/sexist misogyny that destroys so many women, especially, black women?"

Now is the time to seize the public's attention.

Imus's hateful diatribes were just a rotting, oozing festering sore that as long lingered on America's racist mistreatment of black women, and what he has said about the young girls of Rutgers is just the tip of the iceberg.

Now these young girls are receiving hate mail for MSNBC firing Imus.

Yes, black women are certainy loved by this country.

Just like this country has been loving us black women for over 400 years.

People like Imus are just the overseers who run Massa's plantation, keeping things in order.

It is the CEOs, and other rulers of white-run, white male-owned corporate media America who should be brought down for their constant barragement of the airwaves with racist/sexist filth spewed forth against black women.

And it is those head honchos who should be called to task for the constant vile diet of garbage that this country has been wallowing in for too damn long.

But, the question remains:

What will the challengers of Imus do now?

Now is not the time to let this movement lose its steam, now is not the time to let the charge lose its momentum.

Now is the time to finally strike a blow to all those purveyors of filth that seek the destruction of black women.

If Imus goes down, so too should all those who seek the denigration and pillaging of the honor, integrity and character of black women.

Anon,

Oh please as if you don't play such garbage. Yes, It's time for blacks to boycott such things but white people should too as well as holding corporations responsible.

Also, tell fellow white people to stop blasting Snoop Dogg, et.al, in public. Thank you.
